Mesti ramai yang tidak sedar kita sedang berada di hujung tahun 1431 hijriyyah.Para shalihin mengajarkan kita untuk berdoa ketika menjelang pergantian tahun. Dan dibawah ini adalah doa akhir tahun dan awal tahun yang lafadznya cukup terkenal karena banyak terdapat di buku-buku doa.Diharap membawa manfaat untuk warga Toyama.

Doa Akhir Tahun

Bacalah doa ini tiga kali saat menjelang akhir tahun baru Islam, bisa dilakukan sesudah ashar atau sebelum maghrib pada tanggal 29 atau 30 Dzulhijah. Dengan doa ini kita memohon ketika kita akan mengakhiri perjalanan tahun yang akan ditinggalkan ini akan mendapatkan ampunan dari Allah Swt. atas perbuatan-perbuatan yang dilarang oleh-Nya, dan apabila dalam tahun yang akan ditinggalkannya itu ada perbuatan-perbuatan yang diridhai oleh Allah Swt yang kita kerjakan, maka mohonlah agar amal shaleh tersebut diterima oleh Allah Swt.

Bismillaahir-rahmaanir-rahiim

Wa shallallaahu 'ala sayyidinaa Muhammadin wa 'alaa aalihi wa shahbihii wa sallam.

Allaahumma maa 'amiltu fi haadzihis-sanati mimmaa nahaitani 'anhu falam atub minhu wa lam tardhahu wa lam tansahu wa halamta 'alayya ba'da qudratika 'alaa uquubati wa da'autani ilattaubati minhu ba'da jur'ati alaa ma'siyatika fa inni astaghfiruka fagfirlii wa maa 'amiltu fiihaa mimma tardhaahu wa wa'adtani 'alaihits-tsawaaba fas'alukallahumma yaa kariimu yaa dzal-jalaali wal ikram an tataqabbalahuu minni wa laa taqtha' rajaai minka yaa karim, wa sallallaahu 'alaa sayyidinaa Muhammadin Nabiyyil ummiyyi wa 'alaa 'aalihii wa sahbihii wa sallam

Artinya:

Dengan menyebut nama Allah Yang Maha Pemurah lagi Maha Penyayang.

Semoga Allah melimpahkan rahmat dan keselamatan kepada junjungan kami Nabi Muhammad SAW,beserta para keluarga dan sahabatnya. Ya Allah, segala yang telah ku kerjakan selama tahun ini dari apa yang menjadi larangan-Mu, sedang kami belum bertaubat, padahal Engkau tidak melupakannya dan Engkau bersabar (dengan kasih sayang-Mu), yang sesungguhnya Engkau berkuasa memberikan siksa untuk saya, dan Engkau telah mengajak saya untuk bertaubat sesudah melakukan maksiat. Karena itu ya Allah, saya mohon ampunan-Mu dan berilah ampunan kepada saya dengan kemurahan-Mu.

Segala apa yang telah saya kerjakan, selama tahun ini, berupa amal perbuatan yang Engkau ridhai dan Engkau janjikan akan membalasnya dengan pahala, saya mohon kepada-Mu, wahai Dzat Yang Maha Pemurah, wahai Dzat Yang Mempunyai Kebesaran dan Kemuliaan, semoga berkenan menerima amal kami dan semoga Engkau tidak memutuskan harapan kami kepada-Mu, wahai Dzat Yang Maha Pemurah.

Dan semoga Allah memberikan rahmat dan kesejahteraan atas penghulu kami Muhammad, Nabi yang Ummi dan ke atas keluarga dan sahabatnya.

Doa Awal Tahun

Bacalah doa ini tiga kali saat kita memasuki tanggal 1 Muharam. Bisa dilakukan selepas maghrib atau pun sesudahnya. Dengan doa ini kita sebagai Mu'min memohon kepada Allah Swt. agar dalam memasuki tahun baru ini kita dapat meningkatkan amal kebajikan dan ketaqwaan.

One jamaah had come to our mosalla today(28 Feb 2010) and they made intention to spend 3 days at our mosalla for doing activities of da'wah before continue their program of 40 days da'wah around japan.Before came Toyama, they already spent time at Gunma and Nagano.Most of them are students. They are 5 brothers (Malaysian+Banglade sh+Australian) from Aomori, Osaka, Tokushima, Tokyo, Okinawa.

So, any brothers who have free time, can join and help the jamaah to support the activities of da'wah.

We will arrange second Megatrip on 12 February 2010 (Friday) and 19 February 2010 (Friday), visits other masjid and community outside Toyama for collecting donation and spread the information about our Masjid Project.Because of on both dates majority of undergraduate students of Toyama University already finished their exams, so we would like to encourage as many as possible brothers to join this Megatrip,

If all brothers join this time trip, we can visits more masjid that we cannot cover last time.

As discussed in previous Masjid Project Big Committee Meeting that been held
after Friday Prayer 1st January 2010,the meeting had decided for Toyama Muslim
Students Community be member of MSAJ (Muslim Student Association Japan).

For apply to be member of MSAJ, we need to fill form that need us to fill one
name for President of committee,Secretary of committee, and 5 representative.
For president and secretary had been decided same like our Masjid Project
Committee president and secretary. For 5 representative, our president decided 3
members from malaysian student.

For this reason, the 3 malaysian student suggested will be Bro Adnin, Bro Zamir,
and Bro Onira.

Become member of MSAJ we will receive advantage for our Masjid Project. They
will sponsor half of the price of building if we have the other half
collected.For example if the building we want to buy is 14 million, and we had
collected 7 million, then the other 7 million will be helped by MSAJ.

Other advantages as mentioned below:

The advantages or benefits of being a member of MSAJ:
o One Unity: Of course, the Best advantage as Allah orders us to gather and to
cooperate
in the good deeds. And also to get the benefit to be in one Unity (One Ummah).
o Experience Exchange among different local student Society.
o Annual Summer Camp: Executive committee members of the local Society attend
the
Annual Summer Camp to select the next Executive Committee to run the MSAJ.
o Supporting Mosques or schools in local Society: MSAJ supports at least once a
year
one mosque by calling for campaign around entire Japan under special condition,
for
example, the local Society who wants to buy a place/land to establish a Mosque
should
have at least 50% percent of the total cost, and adequate number of the Muslim
community.
o Financial Support: Supporting needy Muslims in Japan and for any natural
disaster or
other problem in other part of the world (e.g., support to the cyclone-affected
Bangladeshi people, etc.), and helping the converted Muslims.
o Hajj arrangement: Every year MSAJ arranges Hajj with the cooperation with
Travel
agency with special price for Students in Japan.
o Publication: MSAJ publishes a quarterly Magazine based on Japanese life for
Muslims
and other important issues. MSAJ also publishes books in Japanese language to
spread
Islamic message to Japanese people.
o Distribution of dawah materials: MSAJ takes steps to distribute dawah
materials both
in English and Japanese.
o Scholars' invitation: MSAJ along with others invite Islamic Scholars to visit
Japan and
give their valuable speeches all around Japan.
o Ramadan competition: During the Ramadan, MSAJ organizes various Quran
recitation,
memorization, Islamic Quiz competition, etc. all over Japan Alhamdulillah

For information, MSAJ membership annual fee is 20 000 yen.

Mosalla Halal Shop Next Order After January 2010

Assalamualaikum all brothers and sisters.

Yesterday (1st January) our new order of Halal Shop item had arrived.

The items available now:

This is our last order for this month until we collected all our money including the debt to start again this bussiness for better record.Next order will be after all the items been sold, maybe after January.

For your information, this bussiness had been manage in 3 period:
1) July 2008- Dec 2008
2) Dec 2008-June 2009
3) June 2009-Dec 2009

For the report of first period, our estimate cash after all items been sold (cash in hand+all products selling price)is about: 140 925 yen

For second period, we have no report but the manager in 3rd period said he received estimate cash after all items been sold (cash in hand+all products selling price)from 2nd period manager is about: 120 000 yen

This means for 6 month of Dec 2008-June 2009, we not making profit but loss about 20 000 yen.

For 3rd period, after i counted estimate cash if after all items been sold (cash in hand + all products selling price), we will get 112 510 yen.

This means for 6 month of June 2009- Dec 2009, we not making profit but loss again about 10 000 yen.

This bussiness had used quite electricity for two fridges, at least 1000 yen bills of electricity comes from this bussiness for a month.If 6 month the bills suppose to be 6000 yen.

After i checked the main reason why we not making profit,it is because we not get money from the items that been taken.

Why the customer not give us money, the reason that can be thinked as follows:
1) The customer want to pay later
2) The customer pay less
3) The customer don't want to pay

For reason no 1:

1) The customer who want to pay later then write their names and the debt amount in debt form can be ask to pay as soon as possible. This can be solved.
2) The customer who don't want to write their names in debt form and only use their memory to record the debt cannot be ask to pay, because we cannot read the memory of human being and we also don't know which human is this.The only way we can do, only to put notices in halal shop for remind those human being.
3)The customer who don't want to write their names and also don't want to put in their memory that they had debt,this kind of customer is the main problem that makes this bussiness loss and cannot been solve in this world but maybe in hereafter inshaAllah.

For reason no 2:

1)The customer who pay less and not follow the price written, but if they write their names, then easy for us to ask them to pay accordingly actual price.This problem easy to be solve.
2)The customer who pay less and not follow the price written because they had make mistake by seeing different price, but if they write their names also this problem can be solved.
3) The customer who pay less and not follow the price written and don't want to write their names and think forever that they had paid the right price, this problem cannot been solved. The only thing we can do only put notices teach and remind them how to pay.

For reason no 3:

Only Allah can give them hidayah.

For these problem, if all customer write the items had been taken and the amount of money that they paid or wanted to pay later in record book or debt form, all this problem easily can be solved. We had again and again remind about the importance to write names when buying in our halal shop, but our halal shop loss continue again.

Actually, each order we make for 50 000 Yen items, we will get at least 2000 yen (actually more than 2000 yen). In 1 month at least 2 order had been made. If 6 month, at least 12 order had been made. If each 12 order, we receive 2000 yen for profit, at least our profit is 24 000 yen for 6 month. But that not happen, we lost 20 000 yen and again we lost 10 000 yen.

Now, we will try to collect all the money that had not return for our halal shop in this January.If after January, still we don't get the money, this problem must be discussed in our big meeting of mosalla how to prevent our items been taken without receive money.

Buat semua lelaki Toyama berbahasa Melayu,

Disebabkan hanya 3 orang sahaja lelaki Toyama yang tidak dapat luangkan masa disebabkan hal kecemasan, dan 4 orang ada program pada 25hb Disember 2009, maka selebihnya yang tidak menyatakan apa-apa halangan, automatik tersenarai sebagai "man power" untuk Mega Trip ke masjid-masjid seluruh jepun pada 2 Jumaat (25 Dis 2009 & 1hb Jan 2010) dalam Fuyu Yasumi.

Kesemua lelaki Toyama tersebut dikehendaki menulis nama mereka pada kertas yang disediakan di Mosalla, sama ada mereka bersedia luangkan masa pada 25hb Dis 2009 atau 1hb Jan 2009 atau kedua-duanya sekali.

Nama akan dikutip sehingga tamat Solat Jumaat pada 27hb November 2009, jika nama tidak ada dalam senarai, maka automatik diklasifikasikan sebagai bersedia pada dua-dua Jumaat (25 Dis 2009 & 1hb Jan 2009). Nama-nama tersebut akhirnya akan dibentukkan kumpulan dan lokasi masjid yang akan dilawati akan ditentukan pada Mesyuarat Mingguan Projek Masjid pada malamnya 27hb November 2009 tersebut.

EDIUL ADHA 1430H PRAYER AT GOFUKU MOSALLA

Salam.

Eidul Adha for this year will be on 27th November 2009 (Friday).

Eidul Adha prayer will start at 7.30 am , so please come before 7.30 am and gather at Gofuku Mosalla.

Bro. Ahsan will be Imam and Khatib for Eid Prayer.

We will also continue our weekly Friday Prayer as usual at 12.20 pm in that day. Those who not come Eid Prayer wajib for him come for Friday Prayer. Bro Adnin will be Khatib for Friday Prayer.

UMUMI DA'WAH CHANGE FROM THURSDAY TO SATURDAY

Our weekly activity "Umumi Da'wah" or General Da'wah which to remind about the important of da'wah and bayan session changed from Thursday after Maghrib into Saturday after Maghrib. But Thursday 's Tadarus activity not change.

It started from 21st November 2009 at 5 pm until the I'sha at 6.15pm. For Saturday and Sunday the 'Isha prayer at Mosalla time also changed from 7pm to 6.15pm. But Monday until Friday, 'Isha time at Mosalla same as before at 7pm.

Student Gathering For Da'wah on 26, 27,28 December 2009

Just for information about one of the decision been made by Markaz Meeting at
Ichinowari Masjid that i attended in Tokyo trip.

Every year there is one student gathering been held at Makki Masjid Tokyo during
Winter Holiday to send student for da'wah around Japan. There will be a lot of
discussion about importance of da'wah and sacrifice to be build in every
muslim's heart before the students will made in group and be sent in certain
masjid, mosque or musalla or mosalla in Japan to practice da'wah and improve the
sunnah of Rasulullah SAW.

But this year the location had changed. The meeting had decided this year
student gathering will be at Shin Anjo Masjid at Nagoya.

On 26th of december will be day for gather the student from every place in
Japan, 27th will be main activities and 28th will be the day to departure to
every masjid in Japan if possible.

So, if you are interested to join, we also can make one student jamaah to go to
that gathering and will go for da'wah to other place after that.

One meeting will be held on 22th October at Gofuku Mosalla after 'isha and weekly bayan, to discuss about visiting other masjid for this week.

Until now we have two suggestion:

2)visit Gifu Masjid

Mengapa Kita Harus Berdakwah?

[1] Dakwah merupakan jalan hidup Rasul dan pengikutnya

Allah ta’ala berfirman (yang artinya), “Katakanlah, Inilah jalanku; aku menyeru kepada Allah di atas landasan ilmu yang nyata, inilah jalanku dan orang-orang yang mengikutiku…” (Qs. Yusuf: 108)

Berdasarkan ayat yang mulia ini Syaikh Muhammad bin Abdul Wahhab rahimahullah mengambil sebuah pelajaran yang amat berharga, yaitu: Dakwah ila Allah (mengajak manusia untuk mentauhidkan Allah) merupakan jalan orang yang mengikuti Rasulullah shallallahu ‘alaihi wa sallam, sebagaimana yang beliau tuliskan di dalam Kitab Tauhid bab Ad-Du’a ila syahadati an la ilaha illallah (Ibthal At-Tandid, hal. 44).

[2] Dakwah merupakan karakter orang-orang yang muflih (beruntung)

Allah ta’ala berfirman (yang artinya), “Hendaknya ada di antara kalian segolongan orang yang mendakwahkan kepada kebaikan, memerintahkan yang ma’ruf, melarang yang mungkar. Mereka itulah sebenarnya orang-orang yang beruntung.” (Qs. Ali-’Imran: 104)

Ibnu Katsir rahimahullah menyebutkan riwayat dari Abu Ja’far Al-Baqir setelah membaca ayat “Hendaknya ada di antara kalian segolongan orang yang mendakwahkan kepada kebaikan” maka Rasulullah shallallahu ‘alaihi wa sallam bersabda, “Yang dimaksud kebaikan itu adalah mengikuti Al-Qur’an dan Sunnah-ku.” (HR. Ibnu Mardawaih) (Tafsir Al-Qur’an Al-’Azhim, jilid 2 hal. 66)

Dari Hudzaifah bin Al-Yaman radhiyallahu’anhu, Rasulullah shallallahu ‘alaihi wa sallam bersabda, “Demi Dzat yang jiwaku berada di tangan-Nya! Benar-benar kalian harus memerintahkan yang ma’ruf dan melarang dari yang mungkar, atau Allah akan mengirimkan untuk kalian hukuman dari sisi-Nya kemudian kalian pun berdoa kepada-Nya namun permohonan kalian tak lagi dikabulkan.” (HR. Ahmad, dinilai hasan Al-Albani dalam Sahih Al-Jami’ hadits no. 7070. Lihat Tafsir Al-Qur’an Al-’Azhim, jilid 2 hal. 66)

[3] Dakwah merupakan ciri umat yang terbaik

Allah ta’ala berfirman (yang artinya), “Kalian adalah umat terbaik yang dikeluarkan bagi umat manusia, kalian perintahkan yang ma’ruf dan kalian larang yang mungkar, dan kalian pun beriman kepada Allah…” (Qs. Ali-’Imran: 110)

Ibnu Katsir mengatakan, “Pendapat yang benar, ayat ini umum mencakup segenap umat (Islam) di setiap jaman sesuai dengan kedudukan dan kondisi mereka masing-masing. Sedangkan kurun terbaik di antara mereka semua adalah masa diutusnya Rasulullah shallallahu ‘alaihi wa sallam kemudian generasi sesudahnya, lantas generasi yang berikutnya.” (Tafsir Al-Qur’an Al-’Azhim, jilid 2 hal. 68)

[4] Dakwah merupakan sikap hidup orang yang beriman

Allah ta’ala berfirman (yang artinya), “Orang-orang yang beriman lelaki dan perempuan, sebahagian mereka adalah penolong bagi sebagian yang lain. Mereka memerintahkan yang ma’ruf dan mencegah dari yang mungkar,…” (Qs. At-Taubah: 71)

Inilah sikap hidup orang yang beriman, berseberangan dengan sikap hidup orang-orang munafiq yang justru memerintahkan yang mungkar dan melarang dari yang ma’ruf. Allah ta’ala menceritakan hal ini dalam firman-Nya (yang artinya), “Orang-orang munafiq lelaki dan perempuan, sebahagian mereka merupakan penolong bagi sebahagian yang lain. Mereka memerintahkan yang mungkar dan melarang yang ma’ruf…” (Qs. At-Taubah: 67)

[5] Meninggalkan dakwah akan membawa petaka

Allah ta’ala berfirman tentang kedurhakaan orang-orang kafir Bani Isra’il (yang artinya), “Telah dilaknati orang-orang kafir dari kalangan Bani Isra’il melalui lisan Dawud dan Isa putra Maryam. Hal itu dikarenakan kemaksiatan mereka dan perbuatan mereka yang selalu melampaui batas. Mereka tidak melarang kemungkaran yang dilakukan oleh sebagian di antara mereka, amat buruk perbuatan yang mereka lakukan itu.” (Qs. Al-Ma’idah: 78-79)

Syaikh As-Sa’di rahimahullah menjelaskan, “Tindakan mereka itu (mendiamkan kemungkaran) menunjukkan bahwa mereka meremehkan perintah Allah, dan kemaksiatan mereka anggap sebagai perkara yang sepele. Seandainya di dalam diri mereka terdapat pengagungan terhadap Rabb mereka niscaya mereka akan merasa cemburu karena larangan-larangan Allah dilanggar dan mereka pasti akan marah karena mengikuti kemurkaan-Nya…” (Taisir Al-Karim Ar-Rahman, hal. 241)

Di antara dampak mendiamkan kemungkaran adalah kemungkaran tersebut semakin menjadi-jadi dan bertambah merajalela. Syaikh As-Sa’di telah memaparkan akibat buruk ini, “Sesungguhnya hal itu (mendiamkan kemungkaran) menyebabkan para pelaku kemaksiatan dan kefasikan menjadi semakin lancang dalam memperbanyak perbuatan kemaksiatan tatkala perbuatan mereka tidak dicegah oleh orang lain, sehingga keburukannya semakin menjadi-jadi. Musibah diniyah dan duniawiyah yang timbul pun semakin besar karenanya. Hal itu membuat mereka (pelaku maksiat) memiliki kekuatan dan ketenaran. Kemudian yang terjadi setelah itu adalah semakin lemahnya daya yang dimiliki oleh ahlul khair (orang baik-baik) dalam melawan ahlusy syarr (orang-orang jelek), sampai-sampai suatu keadaan di mana mereka tidak sanggup lagi mengingkari apa yang dahulu pernah mereka ingkari.” (Taisir Al-Karim Ar-Rahman, hal. 241)

[6] Orang yang berdakwah adalah yang akan mendapatkan pertolongan Allah

Allah berfirman (yang artinya), “Dan sungguh Allah benar-benar akan menolong orang yang membela (agama)-Nya. Sesungguhnya Allah Maha Kuat lagi Maha Perkasa. Mereka itu adalah orang-orang yang apabila kami berikan keteguhan di atas muka bumi ini, mereka mendirikan shalat, menunaikan zakat, memerintahkan yang ma’ruf dan melarang dari yang mungkar. Dan milik Allah lah akhir dari segala urusan.” (Qs. Al-Hajj: 40-41)

Ayat yang mulia ini juga menunjukkan bahwa barangsiapa yang mengaku membela agama Allah namun tidak memiliki ciri-ciri seperti yang disebutkan (mendirikan shalat, menunaikan zakat, memerintahkan yang ma’ruf dan melarang yang mungkar) maka dia adalah pendusta (lihat Taisir Al-Karim Ar-Rahman, hal. 540).

[7] Dakwah, bakti anak kepada sang bapak

Allah ta’ala mengisahkan nasihat indah dari seorang bapak teladan yaitu Luqman kepada anaknya. Luqman mengatakan (yang artinya), “Hai anakku, dirikanlah shalat, perintahkanlah yang ma’ruf dan cegahlah dari yang mungkar, dan bersabarlah atas musibah yang menimpamu. Sesungguhnya hal itu termasuk perkara yang diwajibkan (oleh Allah).” (Qs. Luqman: 17)

Allah juga menceritakan dakwah Nabi Ibrahim kepada bapaknya. Allah berfirman (yang artinya), “Ceritakanlah (hai Muhammad) kisah Ibrahim yang terdapat di dalam Al-Kitab (Al-Qur’an). Sesungguhnya dia adalah seorang yang jujur lagi seorang nabi. Ingatlah ketika dia berkata kepada bapaknya; Wahai ayahku. Mengapa engkau menyembah sesuatu yang tidak mendengar, tidak melihat dan tidak bisa mencukupi dirimu sama sekali? Wahai ayahku. Sesungguhnya telah datang kepadaku sebahagian ilmu yang tidak datang kepadamu, maka ikutilah aku niscaya akan kutunjukkan kepadamu jalan yang lurus. Wahai ayahku. Janganlah menyembah syaitan, sesungguhnya syaitan itu selalu durhaka kepada Dzat Yang Maha Penyayang.” (Qs. Maryam: 41-44)

[8] Dakwah, alasan bagi hamba di hadapan Rabbnya

Allah berfirman (yang artinya), “Dan ingatlah ketika suatu kaum di antara mereka berkata, ‘Mengapa kalian tetap menasihati suatu kaum yang akan Allah binasakan atau Allah akan mengazab mereka dengan siksaan yang amat keras?’ Maka mereka menjawab, ‘Agar ini menjadi alasan bagi kami di hadapan Rabb kalian dan semoga saja mereka mau kembali bertakwa’.” (Qs. Al-A’raaf: 164)

Syaikh As-Sa’di rahimahullah mengatakan, “Inilah maksud paling utama dari pengingkaran terhadap kemungkaran; yaitu agar menjadi alasan untuk menyelamatkan diri (di hadapan Allah), serta demi menegakkan hujjah kepada orang yang diperintah dan dilarang dengan harapan semoga Allah berkenan memberikan petunjuk kepadanya sehingga dengan begitu dia akan mau melaksanakan tuntutan perintah atau larangan itu.” (Taisir Al-Karim Ar-Rahman, hal. 307)

Allah berfirman (yang artinya), “Para rasul yang kami utus sebagai pembawa berita gembira dan pemberi peringatan itu, agar tidak ada lagi alasan bagi manusia untuk mengelak setelah diutusnya para rasul. Allah Maha Perkasa lagi Maha Bijaksana.” (Qs. An-Nisaa’: 165).

Dari Ibnu Abbas radhiyallahu’anhuma, Rasulullah shallallahu ‘alaihi wa sallam berkhutbah di hadapan para sahabat pada hari raya kurban. Beliau berkata, “Wahai umat manusia, hari apakah ini?” Mereka menjawab, “Hari yang disucikan.” Lalu beliau bertanya, “Negeri apakah ini?” Mereka menjawab, “Negeri yang disucikan.” Lalu beliau bertanya, “Bulan apakah ini?” Mereka menjawab, “Bulan yang disucikan.” Lalu beliau berkata, “Sesungguhnya darah, harta, dan kehormatan kalian adalah disucikan tak boleh dirampas dari kalian, sebagaimana sucinya hari ini, di negeri (yang suci) ini, di bulan (yang suci) ini.” Beliau mengucapkannya berulang-ulang kemudian mengangkat kepalanya seraya mengucapkan, “Ya Allah, bukankah aku sudah menyampaikannya? Ya Allah, bukankah aku telah menyampaikannya?”… (HR. Bukhari dalam Kitab Al-Hajj, bab Al-Khutbah ayyama Mina. Hadits no. 1739)

Al-Hafizh Ibnu Hajar rahimahullah menerangkan, “Sesungguhnya beliau mengucapkan perkataan semacam itu (Ya Allah bukankah aku sudah menyampaikannya) disebabkan kewajiban yang dibebankan kepada beliau adalah sekedar menyampaikan. Maka beliau pun mempersaksikan kepada Allah bahwa dirinya telah menunaikan kewajiban yang Allah bebankan untuk beliau kerjakan.” (Fath Al-Bari, jilid 3 hal. 652).

[9] Dakwah tali pemersatu umat

Setelah menyebutkan kewajiban untuk berdakwah atas umat ini, Allah melarang mereka dari perpecahan, “Dan janganlah kalian seperti orang-orang yang berpecah belah dan berselisih setelah keterangan-keterangan datang kepada mereka. Mereka itulah orang-orang yang berhak menerima siksaan yang sangat besar.” (Qs. Ali-’Imran: 105)

Syaikh Ibnu Utsaimin rahimahullah mengatakan, “Kalaulah bukan karena amar ma’ruf dan nahi mungkar niscaya umat manusia (kaum muslimin) akan berpecah belah menjadi bergolong-golongan, tercerai-berai tak karuan dan setiap golongan merasa bangga dengan apa yang mereka miliki…” (Majalis Syahri Ramadhan, hal. 102)

Zakatul Fitr sent to Japanese Muslim Family

The decision had been made to send the collected zakatul fitr from Gofuku mosalla to one japanese Muslim family in previous meeting.

The collected Zakatul Fitr is 16000 YEN from 10 person had been sent on 28 ramadan 1430/ 18 September 2009.

The information about the family as written in the email below:

SA dear brother

I hope you are all fine.

I have sent you a mail few days ago entitled (If you need a private car to take you to the airport) about a Japanese Muslim in bad financial situation. In this mail I collect donations for this Muslim and his family. My old mail is at the end of this mail.

كان رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم اجود الناس وكان اجود مايكون في رمضان يلقاه جبريل وكان يلقاه في كل ليلة في رمضان فيدارسه القرآن فلرسول الله صل الله عليه وسلم اجود بالخير من الريح المرسلة
Our prophet (SAAWS) was always generous all over the year. And his generosity was the highest during Ramadan. His generosity during Ramadan was like the free unconstrained winds.

Now an urgent chance has come to us to give Sadakah during the last 10 days of this blessed month.

These is a Muslim family in Japan. The mother is a foreigner and the father is a native Japanese. The father is an old person and has dangerous disease. This father is now facing difficult situation in his job and his income is reduced considerably. They have children in schools too.

Now this family is facing a serious financial problem to the degree that the mother tried to borrow money from her relatives outside Japan. Of course you know this is very difficult for the relatives outside Japan and not so much helpful for the Muslim family in Japan since Japan is very expensive as you may know. For example 1000 dollar is no more than half month salary of a junior worker Japan, but it is a great amount of money in our country.

Allah says in the Quraan what means: (إنما الصدقات للفقراء والمساكين والعاملين عليها والمؤلفة قلوبهم وفي الرقاب والغارمين وفي سبيل الله وابن السبيل فريضة من الله والله عليم حكيم. (9:60) )

This family needs your help urgently. They are in bad need. The father can be considered among (المؤلفة قلوبهم). The mother is considered (ابن السبيل ). And most important; They are Muslims. They should have our first priority in helping and supporting them. Their priority is even higher than our families in our home countries since we are the Muslims of this country.

Please help and donate for this family urgently and quickly.
Please help releasing a heavy financial load away from the mother relatives in the poor country outside Japan.
Please collect donations for this family during this Friday prayer (September 11) and the next Friday prayer(September 18).

WEEKLY TADARUS QURAN ON THUSDAY

Starting from 23 July 2009, every thursday's night after I'sha prayer we try to make tadarus quran (quran recitation) by making one or more group (which contains 3 or 4 brothers in one group) according how many brothers will joining which every person will read one page of quran. This will be part of our weekly amal jamaie (good deeds that make in jamaah).

This activity will replace the weekly Yasin recitation activity before, but we encouraging all brothers and sisters try to continue read Yasin for personal amal every night which have a lot of fadhilah (reward).

Of course other surah also is good to read and have own fadhilah like surah as sajadah and al mulk which good to read before sleep. Try to istiqamah the amal, it is better to make little amal but doing it continuosly than doing a lot of amal but doing it only one or two time then stop to doing it.

Punca Hati Tak Bahagia

Antara puncanya adalah sifat mazmumah yg bersarang di dalam hati.

Antara mazmummah utama yang menghilangkan bahagia di hati ialah :

1. Pemarah - paling mudah dikesan atau dilihat dan paling banyak di dalam diri manusia. Orang seperti ini jarang mendapat kawan dan hati tentunya tidak terang. (sape nak dekat kalau asyik nak marah ajer..bawak2lah senyum..tentu org tak takut nak dekat punyer..)

2. Pendendam - tersembunyi iaitu ibarat mengumpul lahar di dalam dada. Orang seperti ini sentiasa mencari-cari peluang untuk membalas dendam walaupun secara yang kecil-kecil sekalipun seperti sakitkan hati atau tempelak orang yang didendami itu. Sebab itu orang pendendam mudah kena sakit jantung. (ini kes dendam kesumat lahh nie..)

3. Hasad dengki - mencita-citakan terhapusnya sesuatu nikmat yang ada para orang lain dan berpindah nikmat tersebut kepada dirinya" Dengan lain perkataan seseorang yang mempunyai perasaan dengki atau kurang senang terhadap kesenangan yang dicapai oleh orang lain dan ia mengharapkan atau berusaha agar nikmat tersebut terhapus daripada orang itu atau berpindah kepadanya.Amalanya hangus akibat hasad dengkinya.(tak elok dengki mendengki nih..)

4. Bakhil - sentiasa merasakan orang lain menginginkan harta, kesenangan, pangkat dll. dari dirinya. Contohnya sentiasa berdalih mengatakan ia tiada duit. (rezeki yang diberi oleh Allah elok dikongsi bersama..-derma)

** Allah lebih sayang orang yang fasiq tetapi pemurah tetapi benci orang yang abid tetapi bakhil. Kerana walaupun fasiq, pemurahnya itu tetap memberi manfaat pada orang lain kerana kadangkala rezeki itu Allah beri melalui makhluk.

5. Tamak - orang yang tidak puas dengan yang sedikit nescaya tidak akan puas dengan yang banyak kerana dunia ini ibarat meminum air laut,walau berapa banyak yg diminum tetap tak abis jugak lagipun org tamak selalu rugi.. cam pantun zmn sekolah,dlm semak ada duri,ayam kuning buat sarang,org tamak selalu rugi,cam anjing ngan bayang-banayng

** Ingat ! yang dikatakan harta atau rezeki kita bila ia dipakai atau digunakan oleh kita. Selagi tidak diguna iaitu disimpan, itu belum boleh dikatakan rezeki kita. (mungkin ada hak orang lain di situ) Biarlah rezeki itu sedikit tetapi mendapat keberkatan iaitu dapat dimanfaatkan.

6. Tidak sabar - andainya perkara yang kecil pun tidak boleh bersabar apatah lagi hal-hal yang lebih besar. (oleh itu banyak2kanlah bersabar bila hadapi dugaan..cthnyer time keja banyak..tetap maintain vogue walau keja bertimbun atas meja..heh..heh..)

7. Ego - ibu segala mazmummah jadi ia membuatkan seseorang paling tidak tenang. Orang yang memiliki sifat ini pantang tercabar dari sudut zahir mahupun batin.(yg nie no komen)..pasal semua org ader egonya sendiri..cuma tinggi/rendah tahap keegoan tersebut

8. Riak - terseksa sendiri kerana sentiasa tercari-cari peluang untuk dipuji. Sentiasa berlakon di depan orang. Jika ia dipuji, ia akan menambah amalnya tetapi jika dikeji, ia akan mengurangkan amalnya. Allah marah kalau kita riak dan takabbur dengan apa yang kita ada(harta,ilmu amal dll).

9. Cinta dunia - tidak dapat menderita, dapat pun menderita kerana bila sudah dapat susah pula menjaganya. Berhartalah tidak mengapa tetapi kawal hati jangan diletakkan pada harta itu dan bila mati cuma bawa amalan dan doa anak yang soleh/solehah.

** Cinta dunia merupakan "neraka dunia" kerana dunia itu "panas" akibat ia merupakan barang buruan dan rebutan. Jadi letakkanlah akhirat itu di hati dan dunia itu di tangan supaya dunia itu senang dibahagi-bahagi dan akhirat dibawa mati.

Samada bermujahadah atau biarkan saja mazmummah itu, kedua-duanya tetap menderita tetapi andainya bermujahadah kita akan dibantu Allah dan akan bahagia jua akhirnya. So..sama-samalah kita sentiasa ingat mengingati antara satu sama lain sekian.

kepentingan solat jemaah

Solat adalah anugerah yang amat istimewa. Tidak ada satu perintah pun yang di terima Nabi dengan secara terus menerus dari Allah SWT selain dari solat. Pasti ada rahsianya mengapa ibadah solat diberi dengan cara yang paling unik dan di tempat yang lebih tinggi dari Syurga al-Firdaus. Ilmu Allah umpama lautan yang tiada tepiannya. Memahami setitik dari rahsia ini sudah besar ertinya kepada kita. Penemuan hikmah di sebalik solat boleh diumpamakan sebagai penemuan kunci untuk membuka pintu kejayaan.

Nabi s.a.w. menyatakan bahawa solat berjemaah melebihi 25 kali nilainya dari solat bersendirian. Jika kita mengandaikan nilai solat berjemaah itu umpama memperoleh 25 mata, maka jumlah yang diperoleh seseorang dalam masa seminggu adalah 875 mata. Sementara jumlahnya dalam sebulan ialah 3500 mata. Bandingan solat sendirian hanyalah 35 mata untuk seminggu atau 150 mata sahaja untuk sebulan. Dari sudut peratus, kelebihannya adalah 2333%. Mata ini hanya perumpamaan untuk memudahkan kita memahami kedudukan solat jemaah. Sekiranya kita memindahkan kepada nilai mata wang, apakah yang boleh dibelanjakan oleh seseorang yang memperoleh RM 150 sebulan, jika dibandingkan dengan seorang yang memperoleh RM 3500 sebulan? Ini hanya gambaran solat fardu yang dilakukan secara berjemaah. Bayangkan jika ditokok tambah pula dengan amalan sunat yang lain. Jika setiap kali solat kita diberikan RM 25 seorang, mungkin ramai yang akan berbaris untuk menunaikan solat jemaah. Hakikatnya, nilai pahala adalah jauh lebih tinggi dari apa yang kita sangka, apatah lagi dengan nilai wang ringgit. Pahala adalah hak Allah SWT, kita tidak dapat menentukan pahala atau mengukurnya. Mencari pahala itu sudah baik, tetapi yang lebih baik ialah mencari reda Allah SWT yang tidak ada batasannya. Pahala sekali solat sunat fajar sahaja digambarkan oleh Rasulullah s.a.w. sama dengan dunia dan isi kandungannya. Dapatkah kita bayangkan pahala solat fardu secara berjemaah? Justeru, kelebihan ini tidak boleh dipandang ringan. Lantaran usia kebanyakan manusia amat singkat, kita dianjurkan mencari al-Baqiyat as-Solihat, iaitu amal yang berpanjangan dan impaknya besar kepada diri dan masyarakat. Amalan dalam kategori ini adalah solat jemaah. Allah SWT berfirman yang bermaksud: “Dan al-Baqiyat as-Solihat (amal yang kekal lagi baik) adalah lebih pahalanya di sisi Tuhan mu dan lebih baik untuk diharapkan.” Al-Kahfi 18:46.

Rasulullah s.a.w. amat menitik beratkan solat jemaah. Perkara pertama yang Baginda dirikan semasa hijrah ke Madinah adalah mendirikan masjid, tempat manusia berkumpul, bermasyarakat dan mendirikan solat berjemaah. Persoalannya, mengapakah solat berjemaah itu diberi perhatian berat oleh Rasulullah s.a.w.? Solat jemaah berkaitan dengan sistem mengatur hidup bermasyarakat. Tidak ramai di kalangan kita yang menyedari kepentingan solat jemaah dari aspek pembangunan umat. Kelebihan solat jemaah sudah cukup untuk menjadi tanda (clue) tentang kepentingan solat berjemaah. Bertitik tolak dari sini maka kita mengenali bahawa sebenarnya solat jemaah adalah kunci membina kekuatan dan tamadun umat.

Pepatah Melayu yang mengatakan ‘Bersatu teguh, bercerai roboh’ adalah kenyataan yang paling tepat bagi menggambarkan prinsip solat jemaah ini. Kita bersatu hati dan perbuatan ketika menunaikan solat jemaah. Apabila bersatu maka timbullah kekuatan. Maka dengan itu solat jemaah kunci kepada kekuatan umat. Kita boleh bersatu dalam solat harian, solat Jumaat, solat Tarawih, solat Idil Fitri dan Adha, tetapi, mengapa kita tidak boleh membawa prinsip kesatuan hati dan iman ini di luar solat? Alangkah indahnya jika umat Islam memahami, bahawa solat jemaah yang sering dilakukan itu bertujuan untuk merapatkan hubungan kasih sayang dan mengikat hubungan kesatuan yang amat diutamakan dalam Islam. Allah SWT mengingatkan kita tentang prinsip ini dalam firman-Nya yang bermaksud: “Sesungguhnya orang-orang yang beriman itu bersaudara.”

Masjid adalah institusi yang menyatupadukan umat. Masjid adalah Rumah Allah. Tujuan utama masjid ialah membawa manusia berkumpul di bawah bumbung Rumah Allah. Masjid adalah tempat manusia mencari ketenangan, perhubungan harmoni sesama insan dan tidak kurang sebagai pusat terapi ruhaniah. Sesungguhnya masjid adalah pusat yang neutral, yang tidak melambangkan pihak. Justeru, ia perlu dibangunkan sebagai tempat yang mesra kepada semua orang. Fungsi masjid adalah mendirikan jemaah. Mendirikan jemaah membawa kepada kesatuan hati. Kesatuan hati pula adalah rahsia kepada kekuatan umat. Justeru, kita bertanggungjawab untuk menjadikan masjid sebagai inti kekuatan perpaduan masyarakat.

Pembinaan tamadun
Prinsip pembinaan tamadun Islam bermula dari konsep ‘dari masjid ke masjid’, sebagaimana yang boleh kita fahami dari perjalanan Isra’ Nabi dari Masjid al-Haram di Mekah ke Masjid al-Aqsa di Palestin. Berjemaah adalah langkah pertama dalam pembinaan sesuatu masyarakat dan seterusnya pembinaan tamadun. Manusia harus berkumpul dan bekerjasama, sama ada di peringkat masyarakat setempat atau antarabangsa. Bekerjasama membuka peluang perniagaan, peluang pengenalan dan pertukaran kebudayaan, peluang bantuan kemanusiaan, kerjasama membasmi penyakit dan perkara-perkara lain yang bermanfaat. Inilah konsep yang dibawa oleh berjemaah. Sebaik sahaja manusia keluar dari peraturan ini, maka ia akan mengundang kebinasaan, perbalahan dan tidak mustahil hingga ke tahap peperangan. Malapetaka ke atas kemanusiaan pada hari ini adalah hasil daripada ketamakan, kesombongan dan tidak mahu menghormati hak-hak orang lain. Ringkas kata, lari dari prinsip berjemaah.

Berjemaah menyedarkan kita satu realiti, iaitu kita ini sama sahaja pada pandangan Allah SWT. Kita menanggalkan pakaian kebesaran dan sujud dengan penuh kerendahan di hadapan-Nya. Majikan dan pekerja ketika itu menjadi sama. Lelaki dan perempuan adalah sama, tetapi di tempat terhormat masing-masing. Solat yang memiliki ciri utama khusyuk iaitu ‘mengetahui harga diri kita di mata Allah’, ‘kuasa, kekuatan, kepandaian dan kebolehan kita adalah dari-Nya’, serta ‘sedar akan apa yang kita minta dari-Nya’ (Lihat huraian surah al-Mukminun:1 oleh Abdullah Yusuf Ali) akan menyedarkan kita tentang prinsip hak dan kedudukan kita di bumi ini. Kita mula menyedari, bahawa setiap orang mempunyai tugas dan tanggungjawab terhadap diri, orang lain dan yang paling utama terhadap Allah SWT yang kita cintai. Khusyuk solat membawa insaf. Keinsafan inilah yang harus dibawa dengan baik di luar solat apabila kita berinteraksi sesama manusia.

Berjemaah maksud bersatu dalam tujuan dan melakukan sesuatu. Tidak ada se kumpulan manusia yang boleh mencapai kemajuan jika mereka tidak bersatu dan bergerak mengikut satu haluan. Pasukan bola sepak yang terhandal di dunia pun tidak mampu menjaringkan gol jika tidak bersatu dan sehaluan. Umat Islam memiliki banyak sebab yang membawanya kesatuan. Sikap yang diperlu digilap hanya sikap memahami kekurangan orang lain, bertolak ansur dan tidak menganggap diri serba-serbi sempurna. Allah SWT menjadikan setiap kita berbeza dan mempunyai kekuatan serta kelemahan tersendiri. Yang sempurna hanya Dia. Kelemahan harus ditampung dengan kekuatan orang lain. Jika tidak, mungkin sampai kiamat pun kita tidak akan dapat bersatu dan mencapai kejayaan dalam membina tamadun. Titik pertemuan ialah seperti kata Rashid Ridha, “Bahu membahu dalam perkara yang kita sepakati, dan bertolak ansur dalam perkara yang diperselisihkan.” Jika perkara kesatuan hati ini ditangani dengan sabar dan kewarasan yang tinggi serta bermatlamat ingin mencapai reda Allah SWT, maka Insya-Allah “Sehari selembar benang, lama-lama bertaut menjadi kain.” Jadi, mulakan dengan solat jemaah.

Berjemaah adalah kekuatan yang disediakan Islam kepada umatnya yang tidak ada pada yang lain. Tetapi dengan satu syarat, iaitu prinsip yang membina kekuatan ini haruslah dijelmakan sebagai realiti dalam kehidupan seharian. Kejayaan mengatur hidup dunia memainkan peranan besar terhadap kejayaan kita di akhirat. Sabda Rasulullah s.a.w. bermaksud: “Dunia adalah ladang untuk akhirat.”

Namun, mungkin sesekali timbul pertanyaan, mengapa umat Islam hari ini diperkotak-katikkan oleh sesetengah negara besar di dunia. Jawapannya mungkin terletak kepada kualiti, iman, sistem nilai dan jati diri umat Islam itu sendiri. Kadang-kadang kita lebih terpesona dengan nilai asing dan meminggirkan sumber kekuatan yang telah sedia ada dalam genggaman sendiri. Justeru, kiasan ‘bagaikan buih di lautan’ seperti yang digambarkan Nabi Muhammad s.a.w. bukan lagi suatu perkara yang menghairankan. Formula kemajuan menurut Imam Malik bin Anas r.a. ialah, “Kemajuan generasi ini akan hanya dicapai jika mengikut formula asas yang menjadikan umat Islam sebelum mereka menjadi maju.” Formula mencapai kemajuan umat Islam tidak lain, selain kembali menghayati ajaran al-Quran, Hadis dan mempraktikkan nilai-nilai murni dalam agama. Justeru, antara nilai yang patut diberi perhatian ialah pembangunan institusi solat jemaah.

Prinsip kekuatan itu terletak dalam kemuafakatan. Justeru, rahsia kejayaan Iblis dalam memecahbelahkan persaudaraan anak Adam ialah dengan mencari sebab-sebab yang memecahkan kemuafakatan. Justeru, kita perlu berwaspada dengan unsur-unsur yang boleh meretakkan perpaduan umat, terutama dalam keadaan dunia masa ini. Allah SWT berfirman yang bermaksud: “Taatilah Allah dan Rasul-Nya, dan janganlah kamu berbantahan menyebabkan kamu gentar dan hilang kekuatan mu dan bersabarlah.” Al-Anfal 8:46.

Pembinaan tamadun itu bermula dari unit terkecil iaitu rumah. Jika tidak dapat solat berjemaah di masjid atau surau, laksanakan solat jemaah bersama-sama ahli keluarga. ‘Aura’ kebahagiaannya pasti akan terasa, jika solat jemaah didirikan di dalam rumah. Ia menjadi salah satu faktor yang membina kerukunan hidup berumah tangga. Kerukunan ini seterusnya akan membantu membina kerukunan hidup bermasyarakat. Ia umpama bata yang melengkapi satu binaan. Bata yang tidak seimbang ikatannya akan mengakibatkan keruntuhan sesebuah bangunan. Persoalan yang sama boleh diterapkan dalam komuniti yang lebih besar, seperti di desa, taman perumahan atau di kawasan bandar. Oleh itu, konsep berjemaah ini adalah amat penting. Jika prinsipnya dikembangkan kepada aktiviti lain maka kita akan mendapat kejayaan yang sempurna. Tidak ada jalan pintas selain dari merealisasi prinsip-prinsip berjemaah jika ingin mencapai kejayaan sebagai sebuah masyarakat bertamadun yang tinggi.

Kebaikannya
Solat berjemaah mengajar prinsip mengiktiraf hak orang lain. Seorang imam tidak boleh memimpin solat sesuka hati tanpa persetujuan makmum dan mengambil kira keupayaan makmum. Muaz bin Jabal pernah ditegur Nabi semasa menjadi imam kerana memanjangkan solatnya. Justeru, imam harus mengambil kira agar solat, doa atau khutbahnya (jika solat Jumaat) tidak terlalu panjang demi menjaga kemaslahatan umum. Semakin tinggi kehalusan budi dan seni ‘berbahasa’ maka semakin tinggi jugalah sesebuah tamadun itu. Seperti kata seorang Budayawan, “ Umat yang ada akar dan jati diri itu adalah umat yang ada identiti budayanya yang tinggi.” Maka solat jemaah mendidik umat untuk berbudaya tinggi. Budaya tinggi adalah ciri yang perlu ada bagi sebuah tamadun yang terbilang.

Solat berjemaah di masjid membuka ruang berkenal-kenalan dan ‘berukhuwwah’. Sabda Rasulullah s.a.w. bermaksud, “Seorang muslim adalah saudara bagi seorang muslim yang lain. Dia tidak akan menzaliminya dan tidak membiarkan saudaranya itu.” Tidak memadai jika kita bersalaman sesudah solat tetapi bermasam muka. Seorang Islam harus bersalaman dengan senyuman dan bertegur sapa. Jika tidak maka tidak akan tertegak juga jiwa solat jemaah. Solatnya mungkin berpahala, namun kita tidak mencapai sunnah yang sempurna dalam menegakkan rukun bermasyarakat sebagaimana yang dibawa oleh Rasulullah s.a.w. Justeru, binalah solat jemaah dengan mengambil kira manfaat sunnah-sunnahnya.

Solat jemaah membina keseimbangan sosial. Seseorang yang dalam situasi kesusahan seperti kematian, sakit, bersalin, berpindah dan sebagainya akan cepat diketahui melalui institusi solat jemaah. Saudara yang bermusibah akan segera pula menerima bantuan. Masalah sesama saudara, jika ada, akan diselesaikan dengan cara muafakat dan bertemu muka secara ‘gentleman’. Ini ciri orang bertamadun. Tamadun tinggi tidak mungkin dicapai tanpa muafakat dan menghormati hak orang lain, bak kata pepatah, “Muafakat membawa berkat.” Kesabaran, prihatin terhadap kesusahan orang lain, tolong-menolong dan muafakat adalah sebahagian dari keindahan dan ‘keberkatan’ solat jemaah. Allah SWT berfirman yang bermaksud: “Bantu membantulah dalam menegakkan kebajikan dan taqwa, dan jangan kamu bantu-membantu dalam menegakkan dosa dan permusuhan.” al-Mai’dah 5:2. Justeru, perintah Allah SWT agar bantu-membantu dalam perkara kebaikan akan menjadi realiti melalui solat jemaah.

Solat jemaah mengajar kita konsep kepimpinan. Satu unit komuniti terkecil terdiri dari dua orang. Justeru, komuniti sekecil ini pun harus diatur. Nabi mengajar kita untuk melantik seorang sebagai ketua jika ada sekumpulan kecil yang bermusafir. Pemimpin bertanggungjawab untuk memimpin dengan adil, bijak dan bertimbang rasa. Sementara pengikut pula bertanggungjawab untuk mentaati pemimpin pada perkara yang tidak melanggar batas Syariat. Ia mengandungi prinsip kepimpinan dan ketaatan. Prinsip asas bermasyarakat ini terdapat di dalam solat berjemaah. Makmum perlu mengikut imam. Solat tidak sah jika seseorang makmum mendahului imam dengan sengaja. Imam boleh dari sesiapa. Imam dikira dari segi keilmuan tentang soal solat, ia harus tahu menangani sesuatu perkara yang timbul ketika solat. Sepatutnya semua orang Islam dilatih mempertingkatkan diri untuk memimpin, sekurang-kurangnya belajar menjadi imam dalam solat jemaah. Wanita adalah mulia, justeru memelihara kehormatan dan kemuliaannya maka ia tidak diperuntukkan menjadi imam, kecuali untuk makmum wanita juga. Justeru, meletakkan wanita sebagai imam di hadapan makmum lelaki membuka ruang untuk merendahkan maruahnya secara halus dan tersirat oleh lelaki. Istilah diskriminasi wanita hanya akan timbul, jika orang Islam berfikir dalam acuan pemikiran budaya asing.

Setiap kali sebelum solat jemaah didirikan, ia didahului dengan laungan azan. Memang tepat sekali kalimah ‘Allah Maha Besar’ di awal setiap solat jemaah. Ini kerana kebaikan yang tersirat dari mempraktik solat jemaah amat besar dalam menyusun hidup bermasyarakat dan pembinaan Tamadun Hadhari. Keberkatannya bukan hanya kepada umat Islam, malah ia akan melimpah kepada seluruh masyarakat di sekitar sesebuah institusi solat jemaah itu. Dengan memahami kebaikan ini, tidak mustahil, umat Islam di dunia akan menjadi umat contoh yang ideal dan menjadi ikutan umat yang lain. Firman Allah SWT bermaksud: “Dan demikian Kami telah jadikan kamu umat yang adil dan pilihan agar kamu menjadi saksi kepada manusia, dan Rasul menjadi saksi pula ke atas kamu.” Al-Baqarah 2:143 Wallahu A’lam.

Assalamualaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh. Ada beberapa pengumuman penting dari Gofuku Musolla hasil mesyuarat malam ini. Harap semua ambil perhatian dan membaca dengan teliti dan cermat.

1. Esok akan bermula semula sistem solat jumaat bermula 12.20 dan tamat 12.40 tengah hari seperti yang pernah dibuat sebelum ini:

2. esok(1 MEI 2009) selepas Isyak akan diadakan KENDURI. Sila beramai-ramai datang solat Isyak pada jam 8.30 malam.

3. jadual solat telah diubah seperti berikut:

maghrib (7 mlm),
Isyak (8.30 mlm)

4.Amir Musolla telah membuat keputusan untuk diadakan satu giliran tugas imam& pembaca taklim untuk semua pelajar lelaki malaysia universiti toyama. Jadual akan dibentangkan semasa kenduri esok, oleh itu harap semua hadir kenduri untuk memberikan maklum balas akan keputusan ini.

5. beberapa orang akan ditugaskan menjadi khatib jumaat, yang turut akan dibuat giliran. diharap para khatib jumaat akan menjayakan sistem solat yang menepati masa 12.20-12.40 bagi mengelakkan kesusahan para jemaah yang termangu-mangu akan waktu perjalanan yang tak tersusun selama ini.

6. satu jemaah dari toyohashi akan datang ke musolla pada sabtu, ahad dan isnin ini. harap sesiapa yang ada masa boleh sama-sama meraikan kehadiran mereka.

7. sebagai peringatan tambahan, tutuplah lampu di musolla selepas menggunakannya terutama lampu garaj @ halal shop. sila kembalikan tombol flush tandas di musolla ke tengah selepas memusingnya ketika flush supaya air flush tak terus menjirus non stop. gunakan selipar musolla di kawasan yang tak berkapet sahaja bagi mengelakkan kesusahan untuk menvakum karpet nanti. sebar-sebarkan.

8. sekian sahaja pengumuman penting dari musolla. harap semuanya dibaca dengan cermat. harap maaf atas panjangnya mesej ini mengganggu hari-hari bahagia anda bersama yang tersayang.wassalam.

Firman Allah dalam surah Syura ayat 38,

"Dan juga (lebih baik dan lebih kekal bagi) orang-orang yang menyahut dan menyambut perintah Tuhannya serta mendirikan sembahyang dengan sempurna dan urusan mereka dijalankan secara bermesyuarat sesama mereka dan mereka pula mendermakan sebahagian dari apa yang Kami beri kepadanya;"

HALAL TO EAT BREAD IN TOYAMA

Assalamualaikum all brothers and sisters,

We realise some our brothers especially arab people,their main food is bread. So it is important for them to get halal bread in Toyama.

We still searching way to order halal bread called Bilal Bread (toast bread) produced by muslim company in Japan which sold in Japan since few years ago. The problem is,that bread must be bought for a big amount at least 25 packs in one order. But our Musolla Halal Shop cannot order big amount of that bread because the bread's valid time always short for just one week and the brothers who will buy from our musolla not a large number.We afraid if that 25 packs toast bread not finish sold then it is very wasted.

So, we try to find any Japanese product which is halal to eat.

One of the product had been found in Apple Sunshow supermarket [アップルサンショウ] in Toyama city named as Asssari Shoku Pan as shown in picture below:

The ingredient is totally halal which contains:
Wheat flour, sugar,salt,yeast,and soy bean oil.
[小麦粉、砂糖、塩、イースト、大豆油]

The supermarket can be find like the map below straight from the streettrain "shiden" [市電]'s Marunouchi station to the road number 62, turn right after seing a gas petrol station.The supermarket is not far from there.

The other product is Pasco product.

Our brothers in IPIJ one of Islamic Malaysian Student Association had investigate some product of Pasco by e-mailed the company asked about the ingredient had been answered,the product below free from animal used emulsier(nyuukazai), shortening, margerin, gliserin and processed fat.So from that information, the product is halal to eat.

NO THAI RICE FOR A PERIOD OF TIME

Because of some reason, our halal food supplier Baticrom stopped importing Thai Rice for a period of time. So our Musolla 's Halal Shop also will not have the stock of thai rice.

We believe the goverment of Japan had made order to stop the imported thai rice from coming into Japan.

We suggest for this critical situation, we try to buy and eat japan rice before the stock will continue be imported.

MASALAH TAK SEMPAT BACA FATIHAH

Assalamu alaikumwr. wb. ustadz.

Saya ingin bertanya, apakah pada sholat yang bacaannya perlahan, seorang makmum yang tertinggal dan mendapati imam hendak rukuk boleh langsung mengikuti tanpa membaca fatihah dan mendapatkan penuh rakaat tersebut.

Kemudian apabila dalam tiap rakaat makmum tertinggal lagi kerana cepatnya imam sehingga imam sudah rukuk tetapi si makmum belum selesai ber fatihah, apa yang mesti dilakukan si makmum. Mohon penjelasannya,

Assalamu ‘alaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh,

Memang ada banyak dalil yang sekilas saling bertentangan tentang masalah ini. Ada dalil tentang tidak sahnya shalat tanpa baaan Al-Fatihah. Dan ada dalil lain bahawa bacaan Al-Fatihah Imam sudah cukup menjadi penanggung buat makmum. Dan dalil-dalil penunjang lainnnya.

Sebahagian kalangan ada yang menggunakan metode tarjih, yaitu mengalahkan satu hadits yang dianggapnya kurang kuat dan hanya menggunakan hadits yang dianggapnya lebih kuat. Istilahnya adalah sistem gugur.

Namun kebanyakan para ulama fiqih lebih mengutamakan thariqatul jam’i dalam setiap kesempatan menghadapi dalil-dalil yang saling berbeza. Mereka tetap menggunakan semua dalil, dengan menjadikan satu dalil sebagai dalil umum dan dalil yang lainnya sebagai dalil khusus yang digunakan pada keadaan yang khusus. Intinya, dalil-dalil yang sekilas dianggap saling bertentangan itu dicuba dicarikan titik temu.

Sehingga khusus dalam masalah ini, para ulama pada umumnya menyimpulkan setelah mempertimbangkan semua dalil bahawa bila seorang makmum sempat ikut ruku’ sejenak bersama imam, maka dia telah mendapat satu rakaat. Itu kesimpulan umumnya para ulama.

Namun sebagain saudara kita, kalau tidak salah kalangan PERSIS, umumnya tidak berpendapat demikian. Mereka lebih cenderung mengatakan bila seorang makmum tidak sampai sempurna membaca surat Al-Fatihah tiba-tiba imam sudah ruku’, maka makmum itu tetap harus ikut ruku’, dan untuk itu dia dianggap tidak mendapatkan satu rakaat.

Sedangkan umumnya ulama tetap mengatakan asalkan seorang makmum boleh ikut ruku’ bersama imam, dia sudah mendapatkan satu rakaat, meski secara hakikatnya tidak membaca surat Al-Fatihah. Dan dalilnya adalah sebagai berikut:

Dari Abu Hurairah r.a bahawa Rasulullah saw. bersabda, “Apabila kamu datang ke (masjid untuk) shalat berjama’ah, sedangkan kami dalam keadaan sujud, maka sujudlah, namun janganlah kamu menghitungnya sebagai satu raka’at, barang siapa yang yang mendapatkan ruku’ bersama imam, maka ia mendapatkan shalat mendapatkan 1 raka’at tersebut).” (Shahih: Shahihul Jami’us Shaghir no: 468 n’Aunu1 Ma’bud III: 145 no: 875).

Hadits ini jelas sekali keshahihannya dari segi kekuatan sanad. Dan dari segi pengertian, hadits secara tegas menyebutkan bahawa seorang makmum dianggap telah mendapatkan satu rakaat asalkan sempat rukuk bersama imam.

Bagaimana dengan Bacaan Al-Fatihah, Bukankah Wajib Dibaca?

Mungkin ada sebahagian orang yang masih sedikit keliru dan tetap mempermasalahkan hal ini. Sebab makmum yang sempat ikut ruku’ saja dengan imam bererti tidak sempat membaca surat Al-Fatihah. Sementara ada hadits yang menyebutkan bahawa tidak sah shalat seseorang bila tidak membaca surat itu. Termasuk juga oleh makmum di belakang imam.

Dari Ubadah bin Shamit, dia mengabarkan bahawa Rasulullah SAW bersabda, “Tidak sah shalat orang yang tidak membaca Ummul Qur’an (Al-Fatihah).” (HR Muslim)

Hadits ini memang secara tegas menyebutkan bahawa baca surat Al-Fatihah itu merupakan rukun shalat. Bila tidak dibaca, maka shalat itu menjadi tidak sah.

Namun masalah itu terjawab dengan adanya hadits lain dan menjelaskan bahawa bacaan imam sudah cukup bagi makmum, sehingga ketika makmum tidak membaca ummul kitab itu, hukumnya sudah sah.

Dari Jabir berkata, Rasulullah SAW bersabda, “Barangsiapa yang mempunyai imam, maka bacaan imam menjadi bacaannya juga.” (HR Ahmad).

Jadi kedua hadits di atas boleh kita pertemukan menjadi sebuah kesimpulan, yaitu bahawa imam atau seorang yang shalat sendirian wajib membaca Al-Fatihah. Sedangkan makmum tidak perlu membacanya, kerana bacaan imam sudah menjadi bacaan bagi makmum.

Pendekatan Asy-Syafi’i

Namun Al-Imam Asy-Syafi’i sedikit lebih menyempurnakan pertemuan kedua dalil yang kelihatan bertentangan ini. Bagi beliau, meski bacaan Al-Fatihah makmum sudah ‘ditanggung’ oleh imam, namun menurut beliau hal itu tidak berlaku untuk semua keadaan.

Ketentuan itu bagi beliau hanya berlaku bila makmum sudah tidak sempat baca Al-Fatihah saja. Sedangkan bila makmum sudah ikut imam sejak awal takbiratul ihram, maka menurut beliau makmum tetap masih wajib membaca Al-Fatihah.

Tempat membacanya adalah setelah selesai mendengarkan imam membaca surat itu, setelah mengucapkan lafad ‘amiin, sebelum imam membaca surat lain.

Pendekatan Asy-Syafi’i ini menjadi masuk akal saat kita menemukan hadits lain lagi yang ikut mempengaruhi pola pendekatan kita.

لَعَلَّكُمْ تَقْرَءُونَ خَلْفَ إِمَامِكُمْ? ” قُلْنَا: نِعْمَ. قَالَ, “لَا تَفْعَلُوا إِلَّا بِفَاتِحَةِ اَلْكِتَابِ, فَإِنَّهُ لَا صَلَاةِ لِمَنْ لَمْ يَقْرَأْ بِهَا

Rasululah SAW bersabda, “Apakah kalian membaca (quran) di belakang imam?” Para shahabat menjawab, “Ya.” Beliau bersabda, “Jangan kalian lakukan, kecuali surat Al-Fatihah, kerana shalat tidak sah kecuali dengan membacanya.” (HR Ahmad, Abu Daud, Tirmizi dan Ibnu Hibban)

Di dalam hadits ini lebih jelas lagi Rasulullah SAW memerintahkan untuk makmum membaca surat Al-FAtihah juga. Namun saat makmum terlambat dan tidak sempat atau tidak sempurna membaca surat Al-Fatihah, maka yang diberlakukan adalah hadits yang menyebutkan bahawa bacaan imam sudah menjadi bacaan makmum.

Semua kesimpulan ini adalah ijtihad yang berangkat dari banyaknya dalil yang kelihatan sekilas saling bertentangan. Dan beza pendapat dari hasil ijtihad itu wajar, sangat boleh dan tidak menjadi hal yang perlu ditakutkan.

Orang-orang yang luas ilmunya dan sudah banyak membaca rujukan, pasti akan tahu dan siap terbuka dengan segala perbezaan. Sebaliknya, orang yang dididik secara fanatik dengan satu kesimpulan, memang perlu banyak beradaptasi dengan lingkungan yang ternyata tidak selalu boleh setuju dengan pendapatnya.

THAI RICE'S PRICE INCREASING ONE MORE TIME

As the picture shown above, before this we sell our Thai Rice 10kg for 3010 yen and 5kg for 1565 yen after baticrom increased its price on 2 december. But after Baticrom increased their price one more time on 20 december we will lost 185 yen for 10kg Thai Rice and 85 yen for 5 kg Thai Rice.

So for helping Musolla's Halal Shop , we also had to increase the price like the Baticrom plus 15 yen for Musolla's profit for every item, so the new Thai Rice price after 22 December as below:

On the same day 23 december 2008 , all muslims in Gofuku also invited to come to Musolla after i'sha for a gathering welcoming Ustaz Ramadhan Fitri who come from Malaysia for da'wah program in Toyama. Ustaz Ramadhan will give talk for benefit all the students here.

Starting from next Jumaat on 12 December 2008, the Jumaat prayer will start at 12.20 p.m and end around 12.40 p.m.

The decission had been made by Musolla's amir Imam Abdul Hakim in the daily meeting on 5 december 2008.

Imam Abdul Hakim also hope all the Jumaat Khatib will use time wisely during give the khutbah, so those who have class at 1 p.m can go to the class in time.

EID PRAYER ON 8 DECEMBER 2008 AT 7.30 A.M

Musolla's amir, Imam Abdul Hakim had decided in the meeting on 5 December, the eidul adha prayer on 8 december 2008 will be start at 7.30 a.m.

The eid khutbah will be presented by Imam Adnin who also be the imam of the pray that day.

THAI RICE'S PRICE INCREASING

Starting from 2 December 2008, Baticrom , our Musolla's Halal Shop supplier had increased the price of rice sell by them including Thai Rice 10kg and Thai Rice 5 kg which is our common item in Musolla Halal Shop.

As the picture shown above, before this we sell our Thai Rice 10kg for 2730 yen and 5kg for 1410 yen. But after Baticrom increased their price we will lost 265 yen for 10kg Thai Rice and 140 yen for 5 kg Thai Rice.

So for helping Musolla's Halal Shop , we also had to increase the price like the Baticrom plus 15 yen for Musolla's profit for every item, so the new Thai Rice price after 2 December as below:

Gofuku Musolla's 2nd Big Meeting that been held on 29 November 2008 had decided to select Abdul Hakim Bin Jarkoni to become musolla's new amir.

Imam Abdul Hakim Bin Jarkoni is 2nd year undergraduate student of University of Toyama majoring in Electric and Electrical Engineering. He also had a lot of experience in Quran Recitation Skill as Tarannum and Qiraat. He is very low profile person and always be kind to all people.

In the meeting , new amir Imam Abdul Hakim had decided to continue the collection ￥1500 for each month for one person in Gofuku Muslim Community. Imam Abdul Hakim also had remind all people to make the musolla more imarah and remind the responsiblity of continuing the effort of deen is responsibility of all each muslim in this area. The other brothers in the meeting also had give a talked about how important to participate more in the jamaah in musolla and give great support for maintain the musolla.

About 33 mans and 6 womans had participate in the meeting.

One sms received at 6.20 a.m today (18 Nov 2008) said that one jamaah (majority malaysian) from Tokyo (Makki Masjid) will visit Gofuku Musolla and will make Da'wah Program here for 3 days. It is believed that they will spend time from saturday (22 nov) until monday (24 nov).

So Gofuku Musolla invite all brothers who have time to make nusrah and join the program with the jamaah. May Allah upgrade our imaan and accept our amal and receive His ridha because "Mardhatillah is our struggle".

The Prophet of Islam - His Biography

IN the annals of men, individuals have not been lacking who conspicuously devoted their lives to the socio-religious reform of their connected peoples. We find them in every epoch and in all lands. In India, there lived those who transmitted to the world the Vedas, and there was also the great Gautama Buddha; China had its Confucius; the Avesta was produced in Iran. Babylonia gave to the world one of the greatest reformers, the Prophet Abraham (not to speak of such of his ancestors as Enoch and Noah about whom we have very scanty information). The Jewish people may rightly be proud of a long series of reformers: Moses, Samuel, David, Solomon, and Jesus among others.

2. Two points are to note: Firstly these reformers claimed in general to be the bearers each of a Divine mission, and they left behind them sacred books incorporating codes of life for the guidance of their peoples. Secondly there followed fratricidal wars, and massacres and genocides became the order of the day, causing more or less a complete loss of these Divine messages. As to the books of Abraham, we know them only by the name; and as for the books of Moses, records tell us how they were repeatedly destroyed and only partly restored.

Concept of God

3. If one should judge from the relics of the past already brought to light of the homo sapiens, one finds that man has always been conscious of the existence of a Supreme Being, the Master and Creator of all. Methods and approaches may have differed, but the people of every epoch have left proofs of their attempts to obey God. Communication with the Omnipresent yet invisible God has also been recognised as possible in connection with a small fraction of men with noble and exalted spirits. Whether this communication assumed the nature of an incarnation of the Divinity or simply resolved itself into a medium of reception of Divine messages (through inspiration or revelation), the purpose in each case was the guidance of the people. It was but natural that the interpretations and explanations of certain systems should have proved more vital and convincing than others.

3/a. Every system of metaphysical thought develops its own terminology. In the course of time terms acquire a significance hardly contained in the word and translations fall short of their purpose. Yet there is no other method to make people of one group understand the thoughts of another. Non-Muslim readers in particular are requested to bear in mind this aspect which is a real yet unavoidable handicap.

4. By the end of the 6th century, after the birth of Jesus Christ, men had already made great progress in diverse walks of life. At that time there were some religions which openly proclaimed that they were reserved for definite races and groups of men only, of course they bore no remedy for the ills of humanity at large. There were also a few which claimed universality, but declared that the salvation of man lay in the renunciation of the world. These were the religions for the elite, and catered for an extremely limited number of men. We need not speak of regions where there existed no religion at all, where atheism and materialism reigned supreme, where the thought was solely of occupying one self with one's own pleasures, without any regard or consideration for the rights of others.

Arabia

5. A perusal of the map of the major hemisphere (from the point of view of the proportion of land to sea), shows the Arabian Peninsula lying at the confluence of the three great continents of Asia, Africa and Europe. At the time in question. this extensive Arabian subcontinent composed mostly of desert areas was inhabited by people of settled habitations as well as nomads. Often it was found that members of the same tribe were divided into these two groups, and that they preserved a relationship although following different modes of life. The means of subsistence in Arabia were meagre. The desert had its handicaps, and trade caravans were features of greater importance than either agriculture or industry. This entailed much travel, and men had to proceed beyond the peninsula to Syria, Egypt, Abyssinia, Iraq, Sind, India and other lands.

6. We do not know much about the Libyanites of Central Arabia, but Yemen was rightly called Arabia Felix. Having once been the seat of the flourishing civilizations of Sheba and Ma'in even before the foundation of the city of Rome had been laid, and having later snatched from the Byzantians and Persians several provinces, greater Yemen which had passed through the hey-day of its existence, was however at this time broken up into innumerable principalities, and even occupied in part by foreign invaders. The Sassanians of Iran, who had penetrated into Yemen had already obtained possession of Eastern Arabia. There was politico-social chaos at the capital (Mada'in = Ctesiphon), and this found reflection in all her territories. Northern Arabia had succumbed to Byzantine influences, and was faced with its own particular problems. Only Central Arabia remained immune from the demoralising effects of foreign occupation.

7. In this limited area of Central Arabia, the existence of the triangle of Mecca-Ta'if-Madinah seemed something providential. Mecca, desertic, deprived of water and the amenities of agriculture in physical features represented Africa and the burning Sahara. Scarcely fifty miles from there, Ta'if presented a picture of Europe and its frost. Madinah in the North was not less fertile than even the most temperate of Asiatic countries like Syria. If climate has any influence on human character, this triangle standing in the middle of the major hemisphere was, more than any other region of the earth, a miniature reproduction of the entire world. And here was born a descendant of the Babylonian Abraham, and the Egyptian Hagar, Muhammad the Prophet of Islam, a Meccan by origin and yet with stock related, both to Madinah and Ta'if.

Religion

8. From the point of view of religion, Arabia was idolatrous; only a few individuals had embraced religions like Christianity, Mazdaism, etc. The Meccans did possess the notion of the One God, but they believed also that idols had the power to intercede with Him. Curiously enough, they did not believe in the Resurrection and Afterlife. They had preserved the rite of the pilgrimage to the House of the One God, the Ka'bah, an institution set up under divine inspiration by their ancestor Abraham, yet the two thousand years that separated them from Abraham had caused to degenerate this pilgrimage into the spectacle of a commercial fair and an occasion of senseless idolatry which far from producing any good, only served to ruin their individual behaviour, both social and spiritual.

Society

9. In spite of the comparative poverty in natural resources, Mecca was the most developed of the three points of the triangle. Of the three, Mecca alone had a city-state, governed by a council of ten hereditary chiefs who enjoyed a clear division of power. (There was a minister of foreign relations, a minister guardian of the temple, a minister of oracles, a minister guardian of offerings to the temple, one to determine the torts and the damages payable, another in charge of the municipal council or parliament to enforce the decisions of the ministries. There were also ministers in charge of military affairs like custodianship of the flag, leadership of the cavalry etc.). As well reputed caravan-leaders, the Meccans were able to obtain permission from neighbouring empires like Iran, Byzantium and Abyssinia - and to enter into agreements with the tribes that lined the routes traversed by the caravans - to visit their countries and transact import and export business. They also provided escorts to foreigners when they passed through their country as well as the territory of allied tribes, in Arabia (cf. Ibn Habib, Muhabbar). Although not interested much in the preservation of ideas and records in writing, they passionately cultivated arts and letters like poetry, oratory discourses and folk tales. Women were generally well treated, they enjoyed the privilege of possessing property in their own right, they gave their consent to marriage contracts, in which they could even add the condition of reserving their right to divorce their husbands. They could remarry when widowed or divorced. Burying girls alive did exist in certain classes, but that was rare.

Birth of the Prophet

10. It was in the midst of such conditions and environments that Muhammad was born in 569 after Christ. His father, 'Abdullah had died some weeks earlier, and it was his grandfather who took him in charge. According to the prevailing custom, the child was entrusted to a Bedouin foster-mother, with whom he passed several years in the desert. All biographers state that the infant prophet sucked only one breast of his foster-mother, leaving the other for the sustenance of his foster-brother. When the child was brought back home, his mother, Aminah, took him to his maternal uncles at Madinah to visit the tomb of 'Abdullah. During the return journey, he lost his mother who died a sudden death. At Mecca, another bereavement awaited him, in the death of his affectionate grandfather. Subjected to such privations, he was at the age of eight, consigned at last to the care of his uncle, Abu-Talib, a man who was generous of nature but always short of resources and hardly able to provide for his family.

11. Young Muhammad had therefore to start immediately to earn his livelihood; he served as a shepherd boy to some neighbours. At the age of ten he accompanied his uncle to Syria when he was leading a caravan there. No other travels of Abu-Talib are mentioned, but there are references to his having set up a shop in Mecca. (Ibn Qutaibah, Ma'arif). It is possible that Muhammad helped him in this enterprise also.

12. By the time he was twenty-five, Muhammad had become well known in the city for the integrity of his disposition and the honesty of his character. A rich widow, Khadijah, took him in her employ and consigned to him her goods to be taken for sale to Syria. Delighted with the unusual profits she obtained as also by the personal charms of her agent, she offered him her hand. According to divergent reports, she was either 28 or 40 years of age at that time, (medical reasons prefer the age of 28 since she gave birth to five more children). The union proved happy. Later, we see him sometimes in the fair of Hubashah (Yemen), and at least once in the country of the 'Abd al-Qais (Bahrain-Oman), as mentioned by Ibn Hanbal. There is every reason to believe that this refers to the great fair of Daba (Oman), where, according to Ibn al-Kalbi (cf. Ibn Habib, Muhabbar), the traders of China, of Hind and Sind (India, Pakistan), of Persia, of the East and the West assembled every year, travelling both by land and sea. There is also mention of a commercial partner of Muhammad at Mecca. This person, Sa'ib by name reports: "We relayed each other; if Muhammad led the caravan, he did not enter his house on his return to Mecca without clearing accounts with me; and if I led the caravan, he would on my return enquire about my welfare and speak nothing about his own capital entrusted to me."

An Order of Chivalry

13. Foreign traders often brought their goods to Mecca for sale. One day a certain Yemenite (of the tribe of Zubaid) improvised a satirical poem against some Meccans who had refused to pay him the price of what he had sold, and others who had not supported his claim or had failed to come to his help when he was victimised. Zuhair, uncle and chief of the tribe of the Prophet, felt great remorse on hearing this just satire. He called for a meeting of certain chieftains in the city, and organized an order of chivalry, called Hilf al-fudul, with the aim and object of aiding the oppressed in Mecca, irrespective of their being dwellers of the city or aliens. Young Muhammad became an enthusiastic member of the organisation. Later in life he used to say: "I have participated in it, and I am not prepared to give up that privilege even against a herd of camels; if somebody should appeal to me even today, by virtue of that pledge, I shall hurry to his help."

Beginning of Religious Consciousness

14. Not much is known about the religious practices of Muhammad until he was thirty-five years old, except that he had never worshipped idols. This is substantiated by all his biographers. It may be stated that there were a few others in Mecca, who had likewise revolted against the senseless practice of paganism, although conserving their fidelity to the Ka'bah as the house dedicated to the One God by its builder Abraham.

15. About the year 605 of the Christian era, the draperies on the outer wall of the Ka'bah took fire. The building was affected and could not bear the brunt of the torrential rains that followed. The reconstruction of the Ka'bah was thereupon undertaken. Each citizen contributed according to his means; and only the gifts of honest gains were accepted. Everybody participated in the work of construction, and Muhammad's shoulders were injured in the course of transporting stones. To identify the place whence the ritual of circumambulation began, there had been set a black stone in the wall of the Ka'bah. dating probably from the time of Abraham himself. There was rivalry among the citizens for obtaining the honour of transposing this stone in its place. When there was danger of blood being shed, somebody suggested leaving the matter to Providence, and accepting the arbitration of him who should happen to arrive there first. It chanced that Muhammad just then turned up there for work as usual. He was popularly known by the appellation of al-Amin (the honest), and everyone accepted his arbitration without hesitation. Muhammad placed a sheet of cloth on the ground, put the stone on it and asked the chiefs of all the tribes in the city to lift together the cloth. Then he himself placed the stone in its proper place, in one of the angles of the building, and everybody was satisfied.

16. It is from this moment that we find Muhammad becoming more and more absorbed in spiritual meditations. Like his grandfather, he used to retire during the whole month of Ramadan to a cave in Jabal-an-Nur (mountain of light). The cave is called `Ghar-i-Hira' or the cave of research. There he prayed, meditated, and shared his meagre provisions with the travellers who happened to pass by.

Revelation

17. He was forty years old, and it was the fifth consecutive year since his annual retreats, when one night towards the end of the month of Ramadan, an angel came to visit him, and announced that God had chosen him as His messenger to all mankind. The angel taught him the mode of ablutions, the way of worshipping God and the conduct of prayer. He communicated to him the following Divine message:

With the name of God, the Most Merciful, the All-Merciful.
Read: with the name of thy Lord Who created,
Created man from what clings,
Read: and thy Lord is the Most Bounteous,
Who taught by the pen,
Taught man what he knew not. (Quran 96:1-5)

18. Deeply affected, he returned home and related to his wife what had happened, expressing his fears that it might have been something diabolic or the action of evil spirits. She consoled him, saying that he had always been a man of charity and generosity, helping the poor, the orphans, the widows and the needy, and assured him that God would protect him against all evil.

19. Then came a pause in revelation, extending over three years. The Prophet must have felt at first a shock, then a calm, an ardent desire, and after a period of waiting, a growing impatience or nostalgia. The news of the first vision had spread and at the pause the sceptics in the city had begun to mock at him and cut bitter jokes. They went so far as to say that God had forsaken him.

20. During the three years of waiting. the Prophet had given himself up more and more to prayers and to spiritual practices. The revelations were then resumed and God assured him that He had not at all forsaken him: on the contrary it was He Who had guided him to the right path: therefore he should take care of the orphans and the destitute, and proclaim the bounty of God on him (cf. Q. 93:3-11). This was in reality an order to preach. Another revelation directed him to warn people against evil practices, to exhort them to worship none but the One God, and to abandon everything that would displease God (Q. 74:2-7). Yet another revelation commanded him to warn his own near relatives (Q. 26:214); and: "Proclaim openly that which thou art commanded, and withdraw from the Associators (idolaters). Lo! we defend thee from the scoffers" (15:94-5). According to Ibn Ishaq, the first revelation (n. 17) had come to the Prophet during his sleep, evidently to reduce the shock. Later revelations came in full wakefulness.

The Mission

21. The Prophet began by preaching his mission secretly first among his intimate friends, then among the members of his own tribe and thereafter publicly in the city and suburbs. He insisted on the belief in One Transcendent God, in Resurrection and the Last Judgement. He invited men to charity and beneficence. He took necessary steps to preserve through writing the revelations he was receiving, and ordered his adherents also to learn them by heart. This continued all through his life, since the Quran was not revealed all at once, but in fragments as occasions arose.

22. The number of his adherents increased gradually, but with the denunciation of paganism, the opposition also grew intenser on the part of those who were firmly attached to their ancestral beliefs. This opposition degenerated in the course of time into physical torture of the Prophet and of those who had embraced his religion. These were stretched on burning sands, cauterized with red hot iron and imprisoned with chains on their feet. Some of them died of the effects of torture, but none would renounce his religion. In despair, the Prophet Muhammad advised his companions to quit their native town and take refuge abroad, in Abyssinia, "where governs a just ruler, in whose realm nobody is oppressed" (Ibn Hisham). Dozens of Muslims profited by his advice, though not all. These secret flights led to further persecution of those who remained behind.

23. The Prophet Muhammad [was instructed to call this] religion "Islam," i.e. submission to the will of God. Its distinctive features are two:

A harmonius equilibrium between the temporal and the spiritual (the body and the soul), permitting a full enjoyment of all the good that God has created, (Quran 7:32), enjoining at the same time on everybody duties towards God, such as worship, fasting, charity, etc. Islam was to be the religion of the masses and not merely of the elect.
A universality of the call - all the believers becoming brothers and equals without any distinction of class or race or tongue. The only superiority which it recognizes is a personal one, based on the greater fear of God and greater piety (Quran 49:13).

Social Boycott

24. When a large number of the Meccan Muslims migrated to Abyssinia, the leaders of paganism sent an ultimatum to the tribe of the Prophet, demanding that he should be excommunicated and outlawed and delivered to the pagans for being put to death. Every member of the tribe, Muslim and non-Muslim rejected the demand. (cf. Ibn Hisham). Thereupon the city decided on a complete boycott of the tribe: Nobody was to talk to them or have commercial or matrimonial relations with them. The group of Arab tribes called Ahabish, inhabiting the suburbs, who were allies of the Meccans, also joined in the boycott, causing stark misery among the innocent victims consisting of children, men and women, the old and the sick and the feeble. Some of them succumbed yet nobody would hand over the Prophet to his persecutors. An uncle of the Prophet, Abu Lahab, however left his tribesmen and participated in the boycott along with the pagans. After three dire years, during which the victims were obliged to devour even crushed hides, four or five non-Muslims, more humane than the rest and belonging to different clans proclaimed publicly their denunciation of the unjust boycott. At the same time, the document promulgating the pact of boycott which had been hung in the temple, was found, as Muhammad had predicted, eaten by white ants, that spared nothing but the words God and Muhammad. The boycott was lifted, yet owing to the privations that were undergone the wife and Abu Talib, the chief of the tribe and uncle of the Prophet died soon after. Another uncle of the Prophet, Abu-Lahab, who was an inveterate enemy of Islam, now succeeded to the headship of the tribe. (cf. lbn Hisham, Sirah).

The Ascension

25. It was at thIs time that the Prophet Muhammad was granted the mi'raj (ascension): He saw in a vision that he was received on heaven by God, and was witness of the marvels of the celestial regions. Returning, he brought for his community, as a Divine gift, the [ritual prayer of Islam, the salaat], which constitutes a sort of communion between man and God. It may be recalled that in the last part of Muslim service of worship, the faithful employ as a symbol of their being in the very presence of God, not concrete objects as others do at the time of communion, but the very words of greeting exchanged between the Prophet Muhammad and God on the occasion of the former's mi'raj: "The blessed and pure greetings for God! - Peace be with thee, O Prophet, as well as the mercy and blessing of God! - Peace be with us and with all the [righteous] servants of God!" The Christian term "communion" implies participation in the Divinity. Finding it pretentious, Muslims use the term "ascension" towards God and reception in His presence, God remaining God and man remaining man and no confusion between the twain.

26. The news of this celestial meeting led to an increase in the hostility of the pagans of Mecca; and the Prophet was obliged to quit his native town in search of an asylum elsewhere. He went to his maternal uncles in Ta'if, but returned immediately to Mecca, as the wicked people of that town chased the Prophet out of their city by pelting stones on him and wounding him.

Migration to Madinah

27. The annual pilgrimage of the Ka'bah brought to Mecca people from all parts of Arabia. The Prophet Muhammad tried to persuade one tribe after another to afford him shelter and allow him to carry on his mission of reform. The contingents of fifteen tribes, whom he approached in succession, refused to do so more or less brutally, but he did not despair. Finally he met half a dozen inhabitants of Madinah who being neighbour of the Jews and the Christians, had some notion of prophets and Divine messages. They knew also that these "people of the Books" were awaiting the arrival of a prophet - a last comforter. So these Madinans decided not to lose the opportunity of obtaining an advance over others, and forthwith embraced Islam, promising further to provide additional adherents and necessary help from Madinah. The following year a dozen new Madinans took the oath of allegiance to him and requested him to provide with a missionary teacher. The work of the missionary, Mus'ab, proved very successful and he led a contingent of seventy-three new converts to Mecca, at the time of the pilgrimage. These invited the Prophet and his Meccan companions to migrate to their town, and promised to shelter the Prophet and to treat him and his companions as their own kith and kin. Secretly and in small groups, the greater part of the Muslims emigrated to Madinah. Upon this the pagans of Mecca not only confiscated the property of the evacuees, but devised a plot to assassinate the Prophet. It became now impossible for him to remain at home. It is worthy of mention, that in spite of their hostility to his mission, the pagans had unbounded confidence in his probity, so much so that many of them used to deposit their savings with him. The Prophet Muhammad now entrusted all these deposits to 'Ali, a cousin of his, with instructions to return in due course to the rightful owners. He then left the town secretly in the company of his faithful friend, Abu-Bakr. After several adventures, they succeeded in reaching Madinah in safety. This happened in 622, whence starts the Hijrah calendar.

Reorganization of the Community

28. For the better rehabilitation of the displaced immigrants, the Prophet created a fraternization between them and an equal number of well-to-do Madinans. The families of each pair of the contractual brothers worked together to earn their livelihood, and aided one another in the business of life.

29. Further he thought that the development of the man as a whole would be better achieved if he co-ordinated religion and politics as two constituent parts of one whole. To this end he invited the representatives of the Muslims as well as the non-Muslim inhabitants of the region: Arabs, Jews, Christians and others, and suggested the establishment of a City-State in Madinah. With their assent, he endowed the city with a written constitution - the first of its kind in the world - in which he defined the duties and rights both of the citizens and the head of the State - the Prophet Muhammad was unanimously hailed as such - and abolished the customary private justice. The administration of justice became henceforward the concern of the central organisation of the community of the citizens. The document laid down principles of defence and foreign policy: it organized a system of social insurance, called ma'aqil, in cases of too heavy obligations. It recognized that the Prophet Muhammad would have the final word in all differences, and that there was no limit to his power of legislation. It recognized also explicitly liberty of religion, particularly for the Jews, to whom the constitutional act afforded equality with Muslims in all that concerned life in this world (cf. infra n. 303).

30. Muhammad journeyed several times with a view to win the neighbouring tribes and to conclude with them treaties of alliance and mutual help. With their help, he decided to bring to bear economic pressure on the Meccan pagans, who had confiscated the property of the Muslim evacuees and also caused innumerable damage. Obstruction in the way of the Meccan caravans and their passage through the Madinan region exasperated the pagans, and a bloody struggle ensued.

31. In the concern for the material interests of the community, the spiritual aspect was never neglected. Hardly a year had passed after the migration to Madinah, when the most rigorous of spiritual disciplines, the fasting for the whole month of Ramadan every year, was imposed on every adult Muslim, man and woman.

Struggle Against Intolerance and Unbelief

32. Not content with the expulsion of the Muslim compatriots, the Meccans sent an ultimatum to the Madinans, demanding the surrender or at least the expulsion of Muhammad and his companions but evidently all such efforts proved in vain. A few months later, in the year 2 H., they sent a powerful army against the Prophet, who opposed them at Badr; and the pagans thrice as numerous as the Muslims, were routed. After a year of preparation, the Meccans again invaded Madinah to avenge the defeat of Badr. They were now four times as numerous as the Muslims. After a bloody encounter at Uhud, the enemy retired, the issue being indecisive. The mercenaries in the Meccan army did not want to take too much risk, or endanger their safety.

33. In thc meanwhile the Jewish citizens of Madinah began to foment trouble. About the time of the victory of Badr, one of their leaders, Ka'b ibn al-Ashraf, proceeded to Mecca to give assurance of his alliance with the pagans, and to incite them to a war of revenge. After the battle of Uhud, the tribe of the same chieftain plotted to assassinate the Prophet by throwing on him a mill-stone from above a tower, when he had gone to visit their locality. In spite of all this, the only demand the Prophet made of the men of this tribe was to quit the Madinan region, taking with them all their properties, after selling their immovables and recovering their debts from the Muslims. The clemency thus extended had an effect contrary to what was hoped. The exiled not only contacted the Meccans, but also the tribes of the North, South and East of Madinah, mobilized military aid, and planned from Khaibar an invasion of Madinah, with forces four times more numerous than those employed at Uhud. The Muslims prepared for a siege, and dug a ditch to defend themselves against this hardest of all trials. Although the defection of the Jews still remaining inside Madinah at a later stage upset all strategy, yet with a sagacious diplomacy, the Prophet succeeded in breaking up the alliance, and the different enemy groups retired one after the other.

34. Alcoholic drinks, gambling and games of chance were at this time declared forbidden for the Muslims.

The Reconciliation

35. The Prophet tried once more to reconcile the Meccans and proceeded to Mecca. The barring of the route of their Northern caravans had ruined their economy. The Prophet promised them transit security, extradition of their fugitives and the fulfillment of every condition they desired, agreeing even to return to Madinah without accomplishing the pilgrimage of the Ka'bah. Thereupon the two contracting parties promised at Hudaibiyah in the suburbs of Mecca, not only the maintenance of peace, but also the observance of neutrality in their conflicts with third parties.

36. Profiting by the peace, the Prophet launched an intensive programme for the propagation of his religion. He addressed missionary letters to the foreign rulers of Byzantium, Iran, Abyssinia and other lands. The Byzantine autocrat priest - Dughatur of the Arabs - embraced Islam, but for this, was lynched by the Christian mob; the prefect of Ma'an (Palestine) suffered the same fate, and was decapitated and crucified by order of the emperor. A Muslim ambassador was assassinated in Syria-Palestine; and instead of punishing the culprit, the emperor Heraclius rushed with his armies to protect him against the punitive expedition sent by the Prophet (battle of Mu'tah).

37. The pagans of Mecca hoping to profit by the Muslim difficulties, violated the terms of their treaty. Upon this, the Prophet himself led an army, ten thousand strong, and surprised Mecca which he occupied in a bloodless manner. As a benevolent conqueror, he caused the vanquished people to assemble, reminded them of their ill deeds, their religious persecution, unjust confiscation of the evacuee property, ceaseless invasions and senseless hostilities for twenty years continuously. He asked them: "Now what do you expect of me?" When everybody lowered his head with shame, the Prophet proclaimed: "May God pardon you; go in peace; there shall be no responsibility on you today; you are free!" He even renounced the claim for the Muslim property confiscated by the pagans. This produced a great psychological change of hearts instantaneously. When a Meccan chief advanced with a fulsome heart towards the Prophet, after hearing this general amnesty, in order to declare his acceptance of Islam, the Prophet told him: "And in my turn, I appoint you the governor of Mecca!" Without leaving a single soldier in the conquered city, the Prophet retired to Madinah. The Islamization of Mecca, which was accomplished in a few hours, was complete.

38. Immediately after the occupation of Mecca, the city of Ta'if mobilized to fight against the Prophet. With some difficulty the enemy was dispersed in the valley of Hunain, but the Muslims preferred to raise the siege of nearby Ta'if and use pacific means to break the resistance of this region. Less than a year later, a delegation from Ta'if came to Madinah offering submission. But it requested exemption from prayer, taxes and military service, and the continuance of the liberty to adultery and fornication and alcoholic drinks. It demanded even the conservation of the temple of the idol al-Lat at Ta'if. But Islam was not a materialist immoral movement; and soon the delegation itself felt ashamed of its demands regarding prayer, adultery and wine. The Prophet consented to concede exemption from payment of taxes and rendering of military service; and added: You need not demolish the temple with your own hands: we shall send agents from here to do the job, and if there should be any consequences, which you are afraid of on account of your superstitions, it will be they who would suffer. This act of the Prophet shows what concessions could be given to new converts. The conversion of the Ta'ifites was so whole hearted that in a short while, they themselves renounced the contracted exemptions, and we find the Prophet nominating a tax collector in their locality as in other Islamic regions.

39. In all these "wars," extending over a period of ten years, the non-Muslims lost on the battlefield only about 250 persons killed, and the Muslim losses were even less. With these few incisions, the whole continent of Arabia. with its million and more of square miles, was cured of the abscess of anarchy and immorality. During these ten years of disinterested struggle, all thc peoples of the Arabian Peninsula and the southern regions of Iraq and Palestine had voluntarily embraced Islam. Some Christian, Jewish and Parsi groups remained attached to their creeds, and they were granted liberty of conscience as well as judicial and juridical autonomy.

40. In the year 10 H., when the Prophet went to Mecca for Hajj (pilgrimage), he met 140,000 Muslims there, who had come from different parts of Arabia to fulfil their religious obligation. He addressed to them his celebrated sermon, in which he gave a resume of his teachings: "Belief in One God without images or symbols, equality of all the Believers without distinction of race or class, the superiority of individuals being based solely on piety; sanctity of life, property and honour; abolition of interest, and of vendettas and private justice; better treatment of women; obligatory inheritance and distribution of the property of deceased persons among near relatives of both sexes, and removal of the possibility of the cumulation of wealth in the hands of the few." The Quran and the conduct of the Prophet were to serve as the bases of law and a healthy criterion in every aspect of human life.

41. On his return to Madinah, he fell ill; and a few weeks later, when he breathed his last, he had the satisfaction that he had well accomplished the task which he had undertaken - to preach to the world the Divine message.

42. He bequeathed to posterity, a religion of pure monotheism; he created a well-disciplined State out of the existent chaos and gave peace in place of the war of everybody against everybody else; he established a harmonious equilibrium between the spiritual and the temporal, between the mosque and the citadel; he left a new system of law, which dispensed impartial justice, in which even the head of the State was as much a subject to it as any commoner, and in which religious tolerance was so great that non-Muslim inhabitants of Muslim countries equally enjoyed complete juridical, judicial and cultural autonomy. In the matter of the revenues of the State, the Quran fixed the principles of budgeting, and paid more thought to the poor than to anybody else. The revenues were declared to be in no wise the private property of the head of the State. Above all, the Prophet Muhammad set a noble example and fully practised all that he taught to others.

CHAPTER ON THE DESCRIPTION OF THE JOKING OF SAYYIDINA RASOOLULLAH SALLALLAHU ALAIHE WASALLAM

It has been proven that Sayyidina Rasoolullah sallallahu alaihe wasallam joked. It has also been prohibited to joke. In Tirmizi a narration of Sayyidina Ibn Abbas radiyallahu anhu is reported wherein it has been prohibited to joke. Imaam Nawawi has compared the two in this manner and said that excessive joking which will result in the heart becoming hard, will keep one away from the remembrance of Allah, may become a means of troubling a Muslim or that which may lessen the dignity and degrade one. All these are included in the prohibition. If it (joking) is void of this and is done solely to appease or make someone happy, then it will be mustahab. Sayyidina Abdullah ibn Haarith radiyallahu anhu says, “I have not seen anyone who makes a person more cheerful than Rasoolullah sallallahu alaihe wasallam.” The reason being that the cheerful nature of Sayyidina Rasoolullah sallallahu alaihe wasallam was more of a source of happiness than sadness.
There was also a special necessity for Sayyidina Rasoolullah sallallahu alaihe wasallam to joke. That is due to the personal dignity and greatness of Sayyidina Rasoolullah sallallahu alaihe wasallam which was of such high calibre, that even at a distance of a months journey his awe was felt. For this reason, if Sayyidina Rasoolullah sallallahu alaihe wasallam did not smile and joke, it would have been impossible due to the awe, for people to come near him and the doors of reaping benefit would have been closed. It would have become a habit until the day of Qiyaamah of those who strive to follow and emulate every deed and habit of Sayyidina Rasoolullah sallallahu alaihe wasallam purposely not to smile and joke. It would also have become difficult for those close to a Sheikh (spiritual teacher), to come close and benefit from him. May Allah shower countless Durood and blessings on the pure soul who opened the doors of easiness for the Ummah. Someone told Sayyidina Sufyan ibn Uyaynah radiyallahu anhu, who was a great Muhaddith, “Joking is also a calamity.”
He replied, “It is a sunnah, and only for those who know its bounds and also know how to joke in the proper manner.”

(225) Hadith 1

Anas ibn Maalik radiyallahu anhu relates, “Rasoolullah sallallahu alaihe wasallam once told him jokingly, Ya dhal udhu-nayn (O’ two eared one).”

Commentary
Every person has two ears. It must have been for a special reason that he was called ‘Ya dhal udhu-nayn’. For example, he might have had large ears or a sharp hearing, that he could hear from a distance. The latter explanation seems more correct.

(226) Hadith 2

Anas radiyallahu anhu says, “Rasoolullah sallallahu alaihe wasallam used to associate with us and joke. I had a younger brother. Rasoolullah sallallahu alaihe wasallam said to him, ‘Aba Umayr, what happened to the Nughayr?”

Commentary
Nughayr is a type of bird. The ulama have translated it as a white tailed, red Pigeon. The author of Hayatul Haywaan says that it is a Nightingale. Imaam Tirmizi says that the gist of this hadith is that Sayyidinah Rasoolullah sallallahu alaihe wasallam addressed this child by his kuniyyat (patronymic name). He had adopted an animal (bird) as a pet. The animal died and as a result, the child became grieved. In order to cheer him Sayyidina Rasoolullah sallallahu alaihe wasallam asked him, “What happened to the Nughayr?” Although Sayyidina Rasoolullah sallallahu alaihe wasallam knew that the animal had died. This hadith supports the madh’hab of the Hanafis in a masalah. According to the Shafi’ees, the same rule of hunting applies to the Haram of Madinah as that of Makkah. According to the Hanafis, there is a difference between the two. It is not prohibited to hunt in the Haram of Makkah, whereas it is jaa’iz (permissible) in the Haram of Madinah. Sayyidina Rasoolullah sallallahu alaihe wasallam not prohihibiting this, is a proof from among many other proofs, the details of which are mentioned in the books of fiqh and hadith. There is a difference of opinion whether Sayyidina Abu Umayr radiyallahu anhu was known by this kuniyyat (patronymic name) previously or did Sayyidina Rasoolullah sallallahu alaihe wasallam address him first by this kuniyyat? Some ulama have extracted more than a hundred masaa-il and benifits from this hadith. May that soul be sacrificed that from a sentence of a joke, hundreds of masaa’il are solved. And may the Almighty Allah fill the graves of the great ulama with nur (light) who have given such great service to each and every hadith of Sayyidina Rasoolullaah sallallahu alaihe wasallam and extracted so many massa’il, kept it safe and spread it. A question arises here that it is also mentioned that the animal was kept in a cage and the child played with it. This is cruelty to an animal, which is prohibited in the hadith. An answer to this is, to cage an animal and to play with it to keep oneself happy, is not cruelty. To harm and to be cruel to an animal is a different thing. For this reason the ulama have written that it is only permissable for that person to keep an animal who will not mis-handle or be cruel to an animal, but care for it properly. It is not permissible for a hard-hearted child or one who does not understand animals to keep them.

(227) Hadith 3

Abu Hurairah radiyallahu anhu reports, “The Sahaabah asked, ‘O’ Messenger of Allah, you joke with us?’
Rasoolullah sallallahu alaihe wasallam replied, ‘Yes, I do not say but the truth.”

Commentary
The reason that the Sahaabah radiyallahu anhum asked is because it had been prohibited to joke. Likewise, it is also against the dignity of great people to do so. Sayyidina Rasoolullah sallallahu alaihe wasallam informed that it has nothing to do with my cheerfulness. This has been discussed at the beginning of the chapter.

(228) Hadith 4

Anas ibn Malik radiyallahu anhu relates that a person requested Rasoolullah sallallahu alaihe wasallam that he be given a conveyence. Rasoolullah sallallahu alaihe wasallam replied, “The baby of a camel shall be given to you.”
The person said, “What shall I do with the baby of a camel O’ Messenger of Allah?” (I want one for a conveyence).
Rasoolullah sallallahu alaihe wasallam replied, “Every camel is the baby of a camel.”

Commentary
The person thought that he would be given a small camel which is unfit for riding. In this hadith besides joking, it also points to the fact that a person should carefully listen and understand what the other person is saying.

(229) Hadith 5

Anas ibn Malik radiyallahu anhu reports, “A resident of the wilderness whose name was Zaahir (ibn Hiraam Al-Ashja’ee), whenever he visited Rasooluallah sallallahu alaihe wasallam he brought with him presents of the wilderness, vegetables etc., and presented it to Rasoolullah sallallahu alaihe wasallam. When he intended to leave Madinah, Rasoolullah sallallahu alaihe wasallam used to present him with provisions of the city. Once Rasoolullah sallallahu alaihe wasallam said, ‘Zaahir is our wilderness, and we are his city.’ Rasoolullah sallallahu alaihe wasallam was attached to him. Zaahir radiyallahu anhu was not very handsome. Rasoolullah sallallahu alaihe wasallam once approached him while he was selling his merchandise. Rasoolullah sallallahu alaihe wasallam caught him in between the arms from the back in such a manner that he (Sayyidina Zaahir radiyallahu anhu) could not see him. Zaahir radiyallahu anhu said, ‘Who is this?, leave me.’ But when he saw with the corner of his eye that it was Rasoolullah sallallahu alaihe wasallam, he straightened his back and began pressing it to the chest of Rasoolullah sallallahu alaihe wasallam (For as long as he gained this opportunity it was better than a thousand gifts). Rasoolullah sallallahu alaihe wasallam then said, ‘Who will purchase this slave?’ Zaahir radiyallahu anhu replied, ‘O’ Rasool of Allah, if you shall sell me, you will be selling a defective thing, and will earn a very little sum.’ Rasoolullah sallallahu alaihe wasallam said, ‘No, you are not defective in the sight of Allah, but very valuable.”

Commentary
Sayyidina Rasoolullah sallallahu alaihe wasallam coming and embracing him from the back and covering the eyes of Sayyidina Zaahir radiyallahu anhu was being humorous to him. This saying that who shall purchase him was also in joking. Because Sayyidina Zaahir radiyallahu anhu was not a slave but a free man. Some of the commentators have written that this hadith is about joking, but in reality it is full of virtues and hidden benefits. When Sayyidina Rasoolullah sallallahu alaihe wasallam found him engrossed in selling his merchandise. Sayyidina Rasoolullah sallallahu alaihe wasallam feared that because he was too busy selling, it would keep him away from the remembrance of Allah. Therefore Sayyidina Rasoolullah sallallahu alaihe wasallam took hold of him from behind, and the embrace would be a means of returning him to the remembrance of Allah. As a reminder he said, ‘Is there anyone who will purchase this slave?’, it is because the person who is so engrossed in things other than the remembrance of Allah, is like a slave of his own desires. The embrace of Rasoolullah sallallahu alaihe wasallam totally awakened his faculties for the remembrance of Allah. This is why Sayyidina Rasoolullah sallallahu alaihe wasallam gave him the good news that his status in the eyes of Allah is not low but that of an elevated one.

(230) Hadith 6

Hasan Basri radiyallahu anhu says that an old woman came to Rasoolullah sallallahu alaihe wasallam and made a request, “O’ Messenger of Allah make Dua that Allah grants me entrance into Jannah.”
Rasoolullah sallallahu alaihe wasallam replied, “O’ Mother, an old woman cannot enter Jannah.” That woman started crying and began to leave. Rasoolullah sallallahu alaihe wasallam said, “Say to the woman that one will not enter in a state of old age, but Allah will make all the women of Jannah young virgins. Allah Ta’aala says, “Lo! We have created them a (new) creation and made them virgins, lovers, equal in age.” (Surah Waaqi’ah, 35-37).

CHAPTER ON THE NOBLE CHARACTER AND HABITS OF SAYYIDINA RASULULLAH SALIALLAHU 'ALAYHI WASALLAM

The noble character of Sayyidina Rasulullah Sallallahu 'Alayhi wasallam is known to the whole universe. Allah Ta'aala has also mentioned this in the Qur-aan.. 'And lo! thou art of a tremendous nature'.-Suratul Qalam, 4. His noble character and habits are regarded as an example to the world today. The etiquette of Muhammad Sallallahu 'Alayhi Wasallam has fame, pomp and honour in the world, and what more can be said after Allah Ta'aala Himself has praised Sayyidina Rasulullah Sallallahu 'Alayhi Wasallam. Allah Ta'aala says in Suratul Qalam: 'And lo! thou art of a tremendous nature'. In this aayah it has been stressed in many ways that 'Verily you are of the most noble character'. It is difficult to count and fully describe the noble character of Sayyidina Rasulullah Sallallahu 'Alayhi Wasallam. A great portion has been written on this subject in the books of hadith. Examples of these are mentioned by the author in this chapter, where he mentions fifteen ahaadith.

(326) Hadith Number 1:
Khaarijah bin Zayd bin Thaabit Radiyallahu 'Anhu says that a group came to Zayd bin Thaabit (his father) and requested him to describe to them some facts about Rasulullah Sallallahu 'Alayhi Wasallam. He replied. "What can I describe to you of Rasulullah Sallallahu 'Alayhi 'Wasallam. (It is beyond my means to describe them). I was the neighbour of Rasulullah Sallallahu 'Alayhi Wasallam. (Therefore he was mostly present and knew many facts. He was also a writer of the wahi-revelation). When wahi was revealed to Rasulullah Sallallahu 'Alayhi Wasallam, he sent for me, I came and wrote it. (Sayyidina Rasulullah Sallallahu 'Alayhi Wasallam always showed kindness, and made us feel at ease). Whatever we discussed, he discussed the same. If we discussed some worldly affairs, he also spoke of it. (It was not that he only spoke about the hereafter to us,'and despised the talking of worldly affairs). When we spoke of the hereafter, he too spoke of the hereafter. When we began speaking of the hereafter, he described its events etc in detail). 'When we spoke of food, Rasulullah Sallallahu 'Alayhi Wasallam also spoke of it. (Its etiquette, benefits, tasty foods, foods that are harmful, etc. In the previous chapters many such commands of Sayyidina Rasulullah Sallallahu 'Alayhi Wasallam are mentioned. i.e. 'What a wonderful curry vinegar is'. 'Use olive oil, it is from a mubaarak tree'. etc.). All this I am saying are facts on Rasulullah Sallallahu 'Alayhi Wasallam"'.

Commentary:
Many things are mentioned in this hadith, of which many have been explained in the hadith (in brackets). The translation of the last sentence according to the mashaa-ikh of teaching is as mentioned above. According to this humble servant in the beginning of the hadith where it is mentioned 'What can I describe to you of Rasulullah Sallallahu 'Alayhi Wasallam' is connected to this last sentence, and the translation will be this that 'I can describe to you all the conditions of Rasulullah Sallallahu 'Alayhi Wasallam. Whatever type of question you may ask me about, I will explain it to you, as I was a neighbour of Rasulullah Sallallahu.'Alayhi Wasallam and also the writer of the wahi (revelation). Every religious and worldly activity, eating, drinking etc. was found among the practices of Rasulullah Sallallahu 'Alayhi Wasallam, therefore what should I describe to you and what can I say, as every memoir of his is wonderful, and every time and condition beautiful'. In this hadith Sayyidina Zayd Radiyallahu 'Anhu saying, when wahi was revealed, he was called. This was mostly done because he lived nearest to Sayyidina Rasulullah Sallallahu 'Alayhi Wasallam. There were other Sahaabah also who wrote the wahi, among them were Sayyidina 'Uthmaan Radiyallahu 'Anhu, Sayyidina 'Ali Radiyallahu 'Anhu, Sayyidina Ubay Radiyallahu 'Anhu, Sayyidina Mu'aawiyah Radiyallahu 'Anhu, Sayyidina Khaalid bin Sa'd Radiyallahu 'Anhu, Sayyidina Hanzalah Radiyallahu 'Anhu, Sayyidina 'Alaa Hadrami Radiyallahu 'Anhu, Sayyidina Abaan bin Sa'eed Radiyallahu 'Anhu. These nine Sahaabah wrote the wahi. In the above hadith a question may arise, that speaking of worldly -affairs such as eating, drinking etc. is a useless conversation, and it was the noble habit of Sayyidina Rasulullah Sallallahu 'Alayhi Wasallam not to waste time in useless things, as has been mentioned in many ahaadith. It has also been, mentioned in the seventh hadith of the previous chapter that Sayyidina Rasulullah Sallallahu 'Alayhi Wasallam controlled his tongue and spoke only that which was necessary. The reply to that is not every worldly discussion is useless, but many discussions about eating and drinking and other worldly affairs are necessary, and were waajib for Sayyidina Rasulullah Sallallahu 'Alayhi Wasallam. Among these, are what is permissible and not permissible, what is good or bad, etc. can only be known if Sayyidina Rasulullah Sallallahu 'Alayhi Wasallam explained them, or when they were discussed before him he did not comment on them. It has also been mentioned in this hadith that Sayyidina Rasulullah Sallallahu 'Alayhi Wasallam inquired about the people and encouraged their good deeds and explained to them the detrimental effects of bad deeds. It is for this reason that worldly affairs were discussed in the gathering of Sayyidina Rasulullah Sallallahu 'Alayhi Wasallam, and not for the sake of wasting time.

(327) Hadith Number 2:
'Amr ibnul 'Aas Radiyallahu 'Anhu reports: "(Rasulullah Sallallahu 'Alayhi Wasallam gave attention, spoke and showed love to the worst person of a nation. So that, the person may feel he is being given special attention). He used to give attention, and spoke to me also in a manner, that I began to feel that I was the best among the community. (Therefore one day) I asked: 'O Messenger of Allah, am I better or is Abubakr better?' He replied: 'Abubakr'. I then asked: 'Am I better, or 'Umar?' He replied. "Umar'. I asked: 'Am I better or 'Uthmaan?' He replied: 'Uthmaan'.When I asked him these questions, Rasulullah Sallallahu 'Alayhi Wasallam told me the truth. (He did not tell me I was better to keep me happy. Afterwards I felt ashamed of myself on this deed). I felt I should not have asked such a question".

Commentary:
This Sahaabi in the beginning due to the special attention given to him by Sayyidina Rasulullah Sallallahu 'Alayhi Wasallam felt he was the best among the community. We find from the first lengthy hadith already mentioned, that it was his noble habit to give preference to the best. But, at times, to make one's heart happy and in politeness he gave preference to that which was not the best. He even showed special love to the non-believers and the munafiqeen (hyprocrites). In the hadith, the order in which the question were asked, is because in the time of Sayyidina Rasulullah Sallallahu 'Alayhi Wasallam the Sahaabah Radiyallahu 'Anhum regarded Abubakr Radiyallahu 'Anhu as the best amongst the people. It is also narrated in the ahaadith that in the time of Rasulullah Sallallahu 'Alayhi Wasallam we regarded Abubakr as the best, and after him 'Umar. Sayyidina Ibn 'Umar Radiyallahu 'Anhu relates that in the time of Rasulullah Sallallahu'Alayhi Wasallam we did not regard anyone equal to Abubakr, after him was 'Umar, and after him 'Uthrnaan. After that the other Sahaabah were not given preference. This means that the superiority of these three Sahaabah in this order was manifest. In the time of Rasulullah Sallallahu 'Alayhi Wasallam we the Sahaabah accepted this. Muhammad, the son of 'Ali (Radiyallahu'Anhu), once asked his father 'Ali Radiyallahu 'Anhu who was the best person after Rasulullah Sallallahu 'Alayhi Wasallam?.He replied: 'Abubakr Radiyallahu 'Anhu' I asked after him who? He replied: "Umar'. There are many other ahaadith wherein during the time of Sayyidina Rasulullah Sallallahu 'Alayhi Wasallam this order is mentioned. Therefore 'Amr Radiyallahu 'Anhu asked the question in this order. He competed with the one who was regarded as the best then the second, then the third best. If I am not better than the first then surely I might be better then the second or third.

(328) Hadith Number 3:
Anas bin Maalik Radiyallahu 'Anhu says: "I remained in the service (of Rasulullah Sallallahu 'Alayhi Wasallam for ten years. He never once told me 'Oof '. When I did something, he never asked me, why did you do so? When I did not do a certain task, he never asked me why I did not
do it. Rasulullah Sallallahu 'Alayhi Wasallam had the best character among all people. (and also possessed the most excellent features, so much so,) that I never felt a silk cloth, nor pure silk, nor any other thing softer than the palm of Rasulullah Sallallahu 'Alayhi Wasallam. Nor did I smell any musk or any other fragrance, more sweet smelling than the sweat of Rasulullah Sallallahu 'Alayhi Wasallam".

Commentary:
This is not an exaggeration, or something to do with faith. The perspiration of Sayyidina Rasulullah Sallallahu.'Alayhi Wasallam was collected and used as a fragrance. The one with whom Sayyidina Rasulullah Sallallahu 'Alayhi Wasallam shook hands, a fragrance emitted from that hand for a whole day. It is a proven fact that by committing excess evil the body gives off a disgraceful smell. Sayyidina Rasulullah Sallallahu 'Alayhi Wasallam not uttering even the word 'Oof' on anything is due to his high and noble character and humbleness. He did not regard Sayyidina Anas Radiyallahu 'Anhu fulfilling or not fulfilling a duty to be something from Sayyidina Anas Radyallahu 'Anhu's own side, but something that is from Allah, and was always contented with it. In another hadith this has also been stated that Sayyidina Rasulullah Sallallahu 'Alayhi Wasallam used to say.' 'Only that shall happen that Allah wills. If it is destined to happen it shall happen'. This is the uttermost pleasure from a beloved's deed. In the technical terms of the sufis the essence of 'Rida bil Qadaa' (contentment and acceptance of divine decree) has a different certificate. There is a famous saying of Raabi'ah Basriyyah, the translation of which is, 'O Allah, if you cut me into pieces, as a result, my love for You will surely increase' . The acts of all the accomplished sufis are taken from the many noble acts of Sayyidina Rasulullah Sallallahu 'Alayhi Wasallam. The personality of Sayyidina Rasulullah Sallallahu 'Alayhi Wasallam was perfect and most complete in all aspects. After him the state of 'All inclusive perfection' did not remain. Therefore among the sufis, a certain habit of Sayyidina Rasulullah Sallallahu 'Alayhi Wasallam was evident and at another place another habit was evident. Here it is worth noting that this state of Sayyidina Rasulullah Sallallahu 'Alayhi Wasallam was regarding his own person. Sayyiditina 'Aayeshah Radiyallahu 'Anha says.'Rasulullah Sallallahu 'Alayhi Wasallam never took revenge on his own behalf (or for any wrong done to him), but if a command of Allah was transgressed (i.e. haraam deed was committed) then he surely punished the evil doer'. A similar incident is also mentioned in hadith number three in the chapter on the speech of Sayyidina Rasulullah Sallallahu 'Alayhi Wasallam.
A PLEASANT INCIDENT: There is a surprising story regarding the last portion of the hadith under discussion, from which we find the complete love of the Sahaabah Radiyallahu 'Anhum for Sayyidina Rasulullah Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam. That is, Sayyidina Anas Radiyallahu 'Anhu once began saying with complete love and happiness, that I shook the mubaarak hands of Sayyidina Rasulullah Sallallahu 'Alayhi Wasallam with these hands of mine. I did not feel any silken cloth or pure silk softer than the hands of Sayyidina Rasulullah Sallallahu 'Alayhi Wasallam. The student before whom this hadith was mentioned, showed his desire, that I also wish to shake hands with those hands that shook the hands of Rasulullah Sallallahu 'Alayhi Wasallam. Thereafter, this chain continued in such a manner that today after more 1,350 years it is still continually practised. It is well known as the hadith of musafahah (hand shaking) as the hand shaking is continued. Shah Waliyullah Dehlavi has also mentioned this in his book 'Musalsalaat', through whom it had reached my respected ustaadh Maulana Khalil Ahmad Saahib (May Allah fill his resting place with nur).

(329) Hadith Number 4:
Anas Radiyallahu 'Anhu says: "A person who was wearing yellow coloured clothing was sitting by Rasulullah Sallallahu 'Alayhi Wasallam. It was the habit of Rasulullah Sallallahu 'Alayhi Wasallam not to bluntly express things he did not approve of. (Therefore he kept silent). When that person left, Rasulullah Sallallahu 'Alayhi Wasallam said to those present 'It would have been better if you had told him not to wear yellow clothing".

Commentary:
This was a great kindness of Sayyidina Rasulullah Sallallahu 'Alayhi Wasallam on the ummah. He did not usually prohibit anything to an individual, because it was possible that that person may reject it or may become a cause for one to raise an objection, which could lead to kufr. When Sayyidina Rasulullah Sallallahu'Alayhi Wasallam felt that it would not lead to this, he prohibited that which was undesirable. It is stated that Sayyidina Rasulullah Sallallahu 'Alayhi Wasallam prohibited Sayyidina 'Abdullah bin 'Amr ibnul 'Aas Radiyallahu 'Anhu from wearing such clothing. Many other such instances are mentioned in the books of hadith. Also this delaying and not openly prohibiting a thing were only in such circumstances where it was feared to be detrimental or where there was no fear of harm if it was delayed. This method was not adopted where a haraam thing was committed. It is therefore found in hadith number three in the chapter on the speech of Sayyidina Rasulullah Sallallahu 'Alayhi Wasallam, where in a detailed narration of Sayyidina Imaam Hasan Radiyallahu 'Anhu it is related that when one transgressed the truth, at that time no one could endure his anger, nor could anybody stop him, till Sayyidina Rasulullah Sallallahu 'Alayhi Wasallam avenged that deed. A similar incident will be mentioned in the ensuing pages.

(330) Hadith Number 5:
'Aayeshah Radiyallahu 'Anha reports, that: "It was not the nature of Rasulullah Sallallahu 'Alayhi Wasallam to talk indecently, nor did he engage himself in the use of obscene language. Nor did he shout and talk in the bazaars (which is against dignity). He did not avenge a bad deed with a bad one, but forgave it, and thereafter did not even mention it".

Commentary:
Some people are by nature indecent and habituated to telling obscene jokes, some, in order to keep a gathering happy, indulge in indecent conversations. For this reason Sayyiditina 'Aayeshah Radiyallahu'Anha refused both. There is no harm if one goes into the bazaar to fulfil one's needs, but to go there and shout about is against dignity. One should in a quiet manner, complete ones needs and return. This also does not mean that by not shouting in the bazaar, he made a noise at other places. The object is that it is generally found that people make noise in the bazaars (while dealing etc.). If one is calm in the bazaars, it is apparent that at other places too one will be calm. The whole history of Sayyidina Rasulullah Sallallahu'Alayhi Wasallam is filled with incidents where he did not avenge a bad deed with a bad one. What types of torments and suffering did he not suffer at the hands of the nonbelievers? What did he not confront in the Battle of Uhud? When the Sahaabah Radiyallahu 'Anhum could not bear these happenings, they requested' Sayyidina Rasulullah Sallallahu 'Alayhi Wasallam to curse these non-believers. Instead Sayyidina Rasulullah Sallallahu 'Alayhi Wasallam made this du'aa: 'O Allah, grant my nation hidayah, for they know not'. Zayd bin Sa'nah Radiyallahu'Anhu who was a Jew, once began saying: 'There was not a sign of prophethood in Rasulullah Sallallahu 'Alayhi Wasallam which I had not found in him, except for two signs, which I did not have the opportunity to test. The first is that his hilm (gentleness) will overcome his anger. The second is, the more one acts foolishly towards him the more he will tolerate it. I looked for a chance to test these two signs, and kept on coming and going to his gatherings. One day Rasulullah Sallallahu 'Alayhi Wasallam came out of his house. 'Ali was with him. just then a badawi type of person came and said:'O Rasulullah, my community have accepted Islaam, and I had told them that, if they became Muslims, they shall receive abundant sustenance. And now such a time has come where drought has befallen us. I fear that they will leave Islaam. If the idea is suitable, it is suggested that you assist them. Sayyidina Rasulullah Sallallahu 'Alayhi Wasallam looked towards a person who may have been 'Ali. He replied, 'Ya Rasulullah, there is nothing available'. Sayyidina Zayd Radiyallahu 'Anhu who was of the Jewish faith at that time, was witnessing this incident, he said. 'O Muhammad, if you can do this, a certain amount of dates of a certain person's palm grove be given to me at a fixed time, then I shall pay now in advance and collect the dates at the appointed time. Rasulullah Sallallahu 'Alayhi Wasallam replied this was possible, but if you do not stipulate the palm grove I can make an agreement. I accepted it, and paid eighty mith-qaal of gold (according to well known sayings one mithaqaal equals 100 grains or four and half maa-shaas approx. four and half grams). Sayyidina Rasulullah Sallahu 'Alayhi Wasallam gave the gold to this badawi and said to him, do not forget to be just, and fulfil their needs with this. Zayd Radiyallahu 'Anhu further says, when two or three days were left for the time to collect the dates, Rasulullah was sitting near a well while returning from a funeral with the Sahaabah, among whom were Abubakr, 'Umar, and 'Uthmaan. I came and caught the hem of the kurtah and sheet of Sayyidina Rasulullah Sallallahu 'Alayhi Wasallam and cynically said: 'O Muhammad, you do not want to pay my debt. I swear by Allah, that I know all the children of 'Abdul Muttalib very well. You are very poor payers'. 'Umar looked at me in anger and said: 'O enemy of Allah! what are you mumbling? I swear by Allah, that if I did not fear (the presence of Rasulullah) I would have severed your head'. Rasulullah was looking at me very calmly, and said smilingly to 'Umar: ''Umar, This person and I are in need of something more. He should have told me to take care in fulfilling his rights and should have advised in a better manner when putting forward his claim. Go take him and fulfill his rights, and for having scolded him give him in lieu twenty saa' (approximately two mann approx 66,5 kg) dates extra in excess of his right'. Umar took me and fulfilled my rights and gave me the twenty extra saa'. I asked: 'For what are these twenty extra saa'? ''Umar replied: 'This is the command of Rasulullah'. Zayd Radiyallahu 'Anhu said:''Umar do you know me? 'Umar replied: No' I said: I am Zayd bin Sa'nah. He asked: 'The Allaamah (great learned) of the Jews? 'I replied: 'I am that very person'. He said: 'Being a man of such calibre, why did you behave before Rasulullah in such a manner?' . I replied: 'Two signs from the signs of prophethood were left, which I was not able to test. The first is the hilm (gentleness) of Rasulullah Sallallahu 'Alayhi Wasallam suspersedes his anger. The second is that, the more one acts foolishly towards him, the more he will tolerate it. Now I have tested these two also, therefore I make you witness to my acceptance of Islam.
I give half of my wealth in charity (sadqah) to the ummah of Muhammad Sallallahu 'Alayhi Wasallam''. Therefore he returned to the noble presence of Rasulullah Sallallahu 'Alayhi Wasallam and accepted Islaam. Later he took part in many battles and was martyred in the Battle of Tabuk (May Allah be pleased with him). -Jam'u; Fawaa-id and Jam'ul Wasaa-il.

(313) Hadith Number 6:
'Aayeshah Radiyallahu 'Anha reports: ''Rasulullah Sallallahu 'Alayhi Wasallam did noy hit anything with his mubaarak hands, besides the time when he made jihaad in the Path of Allah. He did not hit a servant nor a women (wife, slave girl etc.)''.

Commentary:
Hudhud is included in the Path of Allah and also jihaad. By hitting, it is meant to hit in anger, this in general usage is called hitting. This is not against one hitting un-intentionally and playfully, as has been mentioned in some ahaadith.

(332) Hadith Number 7:
'Aayeshah Radiyallahu 'Anha says: ''I have never seen Rasulullah Sallallahu 'Alayhi Wasallam avenge himself for a personal affliction, but if one transgressed a prohibited thing from those prohibited by Allah, (To commit a haraam act. The commentators on hadith say the rights of man are also included) then there was no one more angry than Rasulullah Sallallahu 'Alayhi Wasallam. Whenever Rasulullah Sallallahu 'Alayhi Wasallam was given a choice between two things, he always chose the one that was simple, if it did not lead to any type of sin".

Commentary:
It is written in the books of history that in the Battle of Uhud when 'Utbah threw a stone at Sayyidina Rasulullah Sallallahu 'Alayhi Wasallam and his mubaarak teeth became shaheed, and his blessed face became full of blood. A few among those present said. 'Make du'aa for the curse of that wicked person'. Instead Sayyidina Rasulullah Sallallahu 'Alayhi Wasallam made this du'aa: 'O Allah, grant my people hidayah, for they do not know'. Once a badawi came and pulled the sheet of Sayyidina Rasulullah Sallallahu 'Alayhi Wasallam so hard that it made a mark an his mubaarak neck, the badawi then said: 'Load grain on these camels of mine. You do not give from your or your father's wealth (He meant as if the wealth in the baytul maal (treasury) belongs to us and not to you). Sayyidina Rasulullah Sallallahu 'Alayhi Wasallam said. 'Till you do not compensate for pulling the sheet, I shall not make grain available to you'. He said: 'I swear by Allah, that I will not compensate you'. Sayyidina Rasulullah Sallallahu 'Alayhi Wasallam was smiling and had grain loaded onto his camels. We are among those who used his mubaarak name and claim to follow him. If anything is said or done against our dignity, or if one uses a harsh word then we feel it against our dignity. The meaning of the last sentence in this hadith is that when Sayyidina Rasulullah Sallallahu 'Alayhi Wasallam was given a choice by Allah between two things, especially that which was in the interests of the ummah, he always chose the easy and simple thing for the ummah. In the same manner in worldly matters where a choice between two things were given, he chose the simple one as long as it did not have a shar'ee shortcoming in it. In many ahaadith under different subjects, that to put oneself into unnecessary difficulties was not liked by Sayyidina Rasulullah Sallallahu 'Alayhi Wasallam.

(333) Hadith Number 8:
'Aayeshah Radiyallahu 'Anha reports. "A person asked permission to present himself before Rasulullah Sallallahu 'Alayhi Wasallam while I was with him. Rasulullah Sallallahu 'Alayhi Wasallam said: 'What a bad person is he among his community'. After saying this, he gave him permission to enter. After the person entered, he spoke very softly to him. When the person left I said: 'O Rasulullah, you said what you said before he entered, then you spoke so softly to him,. Rasulullah Sallallahu 'Alayhi Wasallam said: 'O 'Aayeshah, the worst person is that who stops speaking to one because of his indecency"'.

Commentary:
Most of the 'ulama have written that this person's name was 'Uyaynah. It is said that till then he had not sincerely accepted Islaam, but hypocritically and outwardly. Upto that time Sayyidina Rasulullah Sallallahu 'Alayhi Wasallam treated the hyprocrites in the same manner as he had treated the Muslims. Therefore he treated him in the same manner. After the death of Sayyidina Rasulullah Sallallahu 'Alayhi Wasallam when some people began turning away from Islaam (irtidaad), he also became a murtad, and openly declared the kufr that was in his heart. When he was brought before Sayyidina Abubakr Radiyallahu 'Anhu, the children of Madinah began jeering him that this person has also become a murtad (turned apostate). He replied: 'Since when have I been a Muslim that it may be said that I have become a murtad. He later became a Muslim, and took part in jihaad in the time of Sayyidina 'Umar Radiyallahu 'Anhu.
It is for this reason that Sayyidina Rasulullah Sallallahu 'Alayhi Wasallam pointed out this fact before he entered. Since this was intended to rectify (islaah) and to save others from harm, therefore this saying of Sayyidina Rasulullah Sallallahu 'Alayhi Wasallam cannot be termed according to the shari'ah as ghibah (backbiting). To mention a bad deed of a person with the intention that others may not fall into it, or be tricked into it, is not classed as those prohibited in ghibah. Some of the 'ulama have stated that this person was an open faasiq. It is permissible to make ghibah of the one who openly indulges in fisq and fujur. When he arrived in the presence of Sayyidina Rasulullah Sallallahu 'Alayhi Wasallam, to make him feel at ease and captivate his heart, Sayyidina Rasulullah Sallallahu 'Alayhi Wasallam spoke softly to him, as was his noble habit. It was also the noble habit of sayyidina Rasulullah Sallallahu 'Alayhi Wasallam to speak softly to everyone. It is for this reason that Sayyidina Rasulullah Sallallahu 'Alayhi Wasallam made this clear to Sayyiditina 'Aayeshah Radiyallahu 'Anha and others, so they may not feel that by the courtesy shown by Sayyidina Rasulullah Sallallahu 'Alayhi Wasallam to this person, that this person is honest and a well wisher, and due to this one may be deceived and fall into some, calamity, or a secret may be said before him. It is the habit of hyprocrites to discuss the secrets of others so that they obtain special status and one's inner secrets. In the last sentence of the hadith the words 'worst person' could have two meanings. This may be referring to the person that presented himself. In order to keep away from his rudness, he was treated in this manner, or this may be referring to the noble personage of Sayyidina Rasulullah Sallallahu 'Alayhi Wasallam that, 'When did you find me to be a rude person, that you were waiting for such a thing. He is an indecent person, and due to his indecency people will refrain from coming to him, and if I also speak like this, people must also stop coming to me'. As a result of which only he shall be a loser, but how could Sayyidina Rasulullah Sallallahu 'Alayhi Wasallam tolerate him being a loser.

(334) Hadith Number 9:
Imaam Hasan Radiyallahu 'Anhu says, (my younger brother) Husayn said: "I asked my father (Sayyidina 'Ali Radiyallahu 'Anhu) about the conduct of Rasulullah Sallallahu 'Alayhi Wasallam in his assemblies' He replied.. 'Rasulullah Sallallahu 'Alayhi Wasallam was always happy and easy mannered. There was always a smile and a sign of happiness on his blessed face. He was soft-natured and when the people needed his approval, he easily gave consent. He did not speak in a harsh tone nor was he stone-hearted. He did not scream while speaking, nor was he rude or spoke indecently. He did not seek other's faults. He never overpraised anything nor exceeded in joking, nor was he a miser. He kept away from undesirable language and did not make as if he did not hear anything. If he did not agree with the next person's wish he did not make that person feel disheartened, nor did he promise anything to that person. He completely kept himself away from three things: from arguments, pride and senseless utterances. He prohibited people from three things. He did not disgrace or insult anyone, nor look for the faults of others, he only spoke that from which thawaab and reward was attained. When he spoke, those present bowed their heads in such a manner, as if birds were sitting on their heads. (They did not shift about, as birds will fly away on the slightest move). When he completed his talks, the others would begin speaking. (No one would speak while Sayyidina Rasulullah Sallallahu'Alayhi Wasallam spoke. Whatever one wanted to say, it would be said after he had completed speaking). They did not argue before him regarding anything. Whenever one spoke to him the other would keep quiet and listen till he would finish. The speech of every person was as if the first person was speaking. (They gave attention to what every person said. It was not as is generally found that in the beginning people pay full attention, and if the talk is lengthened they became bored, and begin to pay less attention). When all laughed for something, he would laugh too. The things that surprised the people, he would also show his surprise regarding that. (He would not sit quietly and keep himself aloof from everyone, but made himself part of the gathering). He exercised patience at the harshness and indecent questions of a traveller. (Villagers usually ask irrelevant questions. They do not show courtesy and ask all types of questions. Sayyidina Rasulullah Sallallahu 'Alayhi Wasallam did not reprimand them but exercised patience). The Sahaabah would bring travellers to his assemblies (so that they thernselves could benefit from the various types of questions asked by these people, and also hear some questions regarding which they themselves, due to etiquette, would not ask). Rasulullah Sallallahu 'Alayhi Wasallam' would say: 'When you see a person in need, then always 'help that person'. (If someone praised him, he would detest it). If someone, by way of thanks praised him, he would remain silent, (because it is necessary that one 'thank a person for a good favour or good deed. It is like one fulfilling one's duty. Some of the 'ulama have translated this as: 'If one did not exceed in praising him, he would keep silent'. That means if he exceeded he would prohibit him). He did not interrupt someone talking and did not begin speaking when someone else was busy speaking. If one exceeded the limits he would stop him or would get up and leave (so that that person would stop)".

Commentary:
This hadith is a portion of hadith number seven in the previous chapter. The complete hadith of Sayyidina Imaam Husayn Radiyallahu 'Anhu is mentioned in the Jam'ul Fawaa-id and the Shifa of Qaadi 'Iyaad. lmaam Tirmidhi has mentioned this hadith in portions according to the relevant chapters.

(335) Hadith Number 10:
Jaabir Radiyallahu 'Anhu says. "Rasulullah Sallallahu 'Alayhi Wasallam never said 'No' to a request of a person".

Commentary:
If he was in possession of the required article at that moment, he gave it, otherwise he would promise to give it at another time, or he would make du'aa for the person, that Allah fulfil the person's need by some other means.

(336) Hadith Number 11:
Ibn 'Abbaas Radiyallahu 'Anhu says: "Rasulullah Sallallahu 'Alayhi Wasallam was the most generous among people in performing good deeds (No one could compare with him in generosity. He himself led a simple life, but in giving he would put a king to shame.At a time of great need a woman presented him a sheet, and he wore it as he was in need of it.A person came to him, and asked him for it, he presented the sheet to that person. Taking of loans and fulfilling the needs of.others, when the creditors came, and if something had come from somewhere, he would pay the debts, and did not go home till everything was given to the needy. There exists many incidents of this nature, so much so that it is not possible to enumerate them). Particularly in the month of Ramadaan, he would be more generous till the month ended. (His generosity in this month exceeded all the other months). In this month when Jibra-eel 'Alayhis Salaam came and recited the Qur-aan to Rasulullah Sallallahu 'Alayhi Wasallam, at that time his generosity exceeded the wind that brings forth heavy rains".

Commentary:
Here the wind is described with speed, that the wind did not blow as fast, as did the generosity of Sayyidina Rasulullah Sallallahu 'Alayhi Wasallam, or it is his widespread benefits, the benefits of rain are not so widespread, as that of Sayyidina Rasulullah Sallallahu 'Alayhi Wasallam. The example of rain is just to illustrate, otherwise what connection has the rain with the generosity of Sayyidina Rasulullah Sallallahu'Alayhi Wasallam, as the rain only benefits in the growing of material things. The shower of Sayyidina Rasulullah Sallallahu 'Alayhi Wasallam benefits materially, spiritually, worldly and religiously. Rain gives life to the earth, and he gave life to the hearts. It is narrated in Tirmidhi that once there came for Sayyidina Rasulullah Sallallahu 'Alayhi Wasallam ninety thousand Dirhams, the equivalent of which is more than twenty thousand Rupees. Sayyidina Rasulullah Sallallahu 'Alayhi Wasallam had the amount spread onto a sack, and had it distributed there and then. After it was distributed a person came to ask, the incident of which is mentioned in the commentary of hadith number thirteen in this chapter. Sayyidina Rasulullah Sallallahu'Alayhi Wasallam said to him, I have nothing left by me. You may loan from someone on my behalf, when I have something I shall pay that debt. This was the noble habit of Sayyidina Rasulullah Sallallahu 'Alayhi Wasallam What can one ask regarding this in the month of Ramadaan. It was a time when from the Lord of all the heavens, the best words were revealed at the best time, to the best of the creation by the malaa-ikah (angels). Sayyidina Rasulullah Salallahu 'Alayhi Wasallam was blessed with the highest and complete rank; and the highest rank is to have the qualities of Allah the Almighty. (337) Hadith Number 12:
Anas Radiyallahu 'Anhu says: "Rasulullah. Sallallahu 'Alayhi Wasallam did not store anything for the next day".

Commentary:
Whatever he possessed, he fed it to the people till nothing was left. He did not keep anything, thinking that he would need it the next day. This is an example of the complete reliance of Sayyidina Rasulullah Sallallahu 'Alayhi Wasallam on Allah Ta'aala, that what the Lord had given today, He will give it tomorrow too. All this is regarding himself. The wives were given their expenses so that they might spend it in the manner they wished. If they wished they could have kept it or distribute it, but they too, being the wives of Sayyidina Rasulullah Sallallahu 'Alayhi Wasallam had this spirit. Once two bags of Dirhams were presented to Sayyiditina 'Aayeshah Radiyallahu 'Anha as a gift, the total of which amounted to more than one hundred thousand Dirhams. She ordered a tray, filled it and distributed it till there was nothing left. At the time she was fasting and had only one roti and olive oil, with which she made iftaar. The slave girl said. 'If we had purchased meat for one Dirham today, we could have broken our fasts with it'. She replied: 'What is the use of complaining now; if you had reminded me at that time I would have purchased it for you'. In the Hikaayatus Sahaabah, a few such incidents of these truthful followers have been compiled. If the meaning of the hadith is, that he did not leave anything for himself nor for his family till the next day, then too it will not be out of place.

(338) Hadith Number 13:
'Umar Radiyallahu 'Anhu reports that once a needy person came to ask Rasulullah Sallallahu 'Alayhi Wasallam for his need. Rasulullah Sallallahu 'Alayhi Wasallam replied: "I do not have anything at present. Go and purchase something on my behalf. When something arrives I will pay for it". 'Umar Radiyallahu 'Anhu said: "O Messenger of Allah, whatever you possessed you have already given away. Allah Ta'aala did not make you responsible for that which is not in your means". Rasulullah Sallallahu 'Alayhi Wasallam felt annoyed at this saying of 'Umar Radiyallahu'Anhu. Thereupon a person from among, the Ansaar said: "O Rasul, of Allah, spend whatever you wish, and do not fear any lessening from the Lord of the 'Arsh (Throne)". (That Great Deity that is the Lord of the'Arsh, nothing will decrease in His Bounties by giving you). Rasulullah Sallallahu 'Alayhi Wasallam smiled and the happiness could be seen on his mubaarak face due to the saying of the Ansaari. Rasulullah Sallallahu 'Alayhi Wasallam than said: "Allah Ta'aala has commanded me to do this".

Commentary:
Sayyidina Rasulullah Sallallahu 'Alayhi Wasallam also commanded Sayyidina Bilaal Radiyallahu 'Anhu to do this. Sayyidina Abu Hurayrah Radiyallahu. 'Anhu says Sayyidina Rasulullah Sallallahu 'Alayhi wasallam once saw a heap of dates by Sayyidina Bilaal Radiyallahu 'Anhu. Sayyidina Rasulullah Sallallahu'Alayhi Wasallam asked what is this. He replied: 'I have kept it for my future needs'. Sayyidina Rasulullah Sallallahu 'Alayhi Wasallam said: 'Do you not fear that because of this, tomorrow on the day of qiyaamah, the smoke of jahannam will reach you'. After this he also said. 'Spend O Bilaal, and do not fear the Lord of the 'Arsh, that it will become less'. Who has the strength to cover all the incidents of the generosity of Sayyidina Rasulullah Sallallahu 'Alayhi Wasallam. For his generosity it was not necessary that he possessed something. It was the general practice of Sayyidina Rasulullah Sallallahu 'Alayhi Wasallam to take a loan and spend on the needy, as is mentioned in the hadith under discussion. Sayyidina Bilaal Radiyallahu 'Anhu was once asked: 'What was the method of the expenditure of Rasulullah Sallallahu 'Alayhi Wasallam?'. He replied: 'Rasulullah Sallallahu 'Alayhi Wasallam did not keep anything. Till the end I was responsible for handling it. It was his noble habit that when a person accepted Islaam and came to him and if he saw this person unclothed, he commanded me to clothe that person. I would obtain a loan from somewhere and purchase clothing and food for that person. Once a person from the mushrikeen (polytheists) came to me, and began saying that I have a lot of wealth, whatever loan you may need take it from me, and it is not necessary to take a loan from anyone else. I began to obtain loans from him. One day I performed wudu and as I was preparing to call out the adhaan, I saw that mushrik (polytheist) coming with a few merchants. Upon seeing me he began to say 'O Habshi' I replied: 'I am present.'. He began to swear at me in a cynical manner, and asked: 'How many days are left till the end of this month?' I replied: 'The month is nearly ending'. He said: 'Four days are left. If you do not pay your loans by that time. I will make you a slave in lieu of my debt. The way you were grazing sheep before in slavery, your position will become the same'. Sayyidina Bilaal Radiyallahu 'Anhu says: 'Whatever becomes of a person as a result of such threats, the same overtook me.
After 'eshaa I came in the presence of Rasulullah Sallallahu 'Alayhi Wasallam and narrated the whole incident to him, then I said: 'There is no way to pay this debt so quickly, nor do you have anything nor do I have anything I will hide away. When you pay the debt I will come out, otherwise, that mushrik will disgrace me very much'. Before the morning prayers a person came running to me and said that Rasulullah Sallallahu 'Alayhi Wasallam is calling you. When I presented myself, Rasulullah Sallallahu'Alayhi Wasallam said: 'Allah Ta'aala has made a means to pay your debt. These four camels are standing, and are laden with gifts sent by the ruler of Fadak. I paid the full debt that morning, and informed Rasulullah Sallallahu 'Alayhi Wasallam that Allah Ta'aala has freed you from debts. Rasulullah Sallallahu 'Alayhi Wasallam asked: 'Is there anything left from the gifts or not?'. I replied: 'A little is left'. Rasulullah Sallallahu 'Alayhi Wasallam said: 'Distribute it, so that I may be at ease'. The evening fell and yet there was some left. After 'eshaa Rasulullah Sallallahu 'Alayhi Wasallam inquired again, upon which I replied: 'The needy ones did not arrive, there is still some left'. Thereupon Rasulullah Sallallahu'Alayhi Wasallarn spent the night in the masjid and did not go home. The next day after 'eshaa he inquired again, whereupon I replied: 'Allah Ta'aala has freed you from its responsibilities. Everthing has been distributed'. Rasulullah Sallallahu'Alayhi Wasallam then thanked Allah, and went to his home. -Abu Daawud.

(339) Hadith Number 14:
Rubayyi' bint Mu'awwidh bin 'Af-raa Radiyallahu 'Anha says: "I brought to Rasulullah Sallallahu 'Alayhi Wasallam a tray full of dates, and some small cucumbers. Rasulullah Sallallahu 'Alayhi Wasallam gave me a handful of jewellery".

Commentary:
This hadith has been explained in hadith number six and seven, in the chapter of the fruits of Sayyidina Rasulullah Sallallahu 'Alayhi Wasallam.

(340) Hadith Number 15:
'Aayeshah Radiyallahu 'Anha reports that Rasulullah Sallallahu 'Alayhi Wasallam accepted gifts, and also gave presents in return.

Commentary:
It is a sign of complete etiquette, that the feeling of a person is taken into consideration in returning a present. There is no benefit for one in not recompensating a gift. Many a time due to intense love one goes through hardships to give presents. In recompensating a present one is also made happy. It does not result in a loss, but is of benefit. Therefore in some ahaadith instead of 'Wa yuthibu minha' (and he recompensated it), 'Wa yuthibu khayram minha' (and he recompensated some- thing better than it) is mentioned. From other ahaadith too this noble habit of Sayyidina Rasulullah Sallallahu 'Alayhi Wasallam is evident, that he gave more in return for a present received.

CHAPTER ON THE MODESTY OF SAYYIDINA RASULULLAH SALLALLAHU 'ALAYHI WASALLAM

Although this chapter includes the habits, and could have been incorporated in the previous chapter, but because of the extreme importance given to it, it has been mentioned separately. Modesty plays a special part between the affairs of the creator and the created. It is mentioned in the hadith that when modesty vanishes, do as you please. Every excellence of Sayyidina Rasulullah Sallallahu 'Alayhi Wasallam reached its apex. Whatever chapter is begun, there are no words that can truly describe his qualities. Not a few incidents, but thousands bear testimony to this. Ibn 'Umar Radiyallahu 'Anhu reports, that Sayyidina Rasulullah Sallallahu 'Alayhi Wasallam did not fix his eyesight on anyone due to his exceeding modesty. He did not look at a person in the eye while meeting him face to face. Imaam Tirmidhi has mentioned two hadith as an example. The'ulama have written that there are many types of modesty. One is the modesty of graciousness and kindness. For instance when Sayyidina Rasulullah Sallallahu 'Alayhi Wasallam made the walimah of Zaynab Radiyallahu 'Anha, after eating some people remained there and became busy in discussions. Their sitting made Sayyidina Rasulullah Sallallahu 'Alayhi Wasallam feel uneasy. He sometimes went out and sometimes came inside, because of his modesty he did not ask them to get up. In the Qur-aan Karim before the end of Surah Ahzaab this incident is mentioned. The second type of modesty is that the lover feels bashful for the beloved, even speaking becomes difficult.
The third type is the modesty of devotion, that in worship one feels humbled, and continues to go forward due to the modesty for the creator. The fourth type is to have Modesty of ones own soul. That is, one begins something with zeal, and when it remains incomplete one begins to feel ashamed of one's self, that this small deed could not be completed. It is said that this is the highest form of modesty. The one that feels modest from one's self, will surely be modest before others.

(341) Hadith Number 1:
Abu Sa'eed Khudari Radiyallahu 'Anhu says that Rasulullah Sallallahu 'Alayhi Wasallam was more bashful than a virgin girl in her veil (purdah). When Rasulullah Sallallahu 'Alayhi Wasallam did not like something, it could be seen on his face. (Because of his excessive Modesty he did not mention it).

Commentary:
The 'ulama have given two meanings for the words 'a virgin in her veil (Purdah)'. One group among the 'ulama say it means a virgin girl in her veil, that she is more shameful than that virgin girl who roams about. However every virgin is bashful, therefore the shari'ah has recognised the silence of a virgin girl as her consent for her-nikaah, as bashfulness is natural for a virgin girl, and especially the girl who is in purdah. Some 'ulama have said that by the girl in purdah, that girl is meant, who is brought up in purdah and also makes purdah from other women. It is a custom in many families, where purdah is observed from those women who go about. It is clear from this, how modest such a girl will be? The second meaning that some of the 'ulama have given is that 'in purdah' is taken metaphorically, that the modesty shown by a virgin girl (bride) on her first night is evident. (It is sad that this does not exist in many western orientated circles today).

(342) Hadith Number 2:
'Aayeshah Radiyallahu 'Anha reports: (because of the excessive modesty of Sayyidina Rasulullah Sallallahu 'Alayhi Wasallam) "I did not have the courage to see the private parts of Rasulullah Sallallahu'Alayhi Wasallam, or that I never saw the private parts of Rasulullah Sallallahu 'Alayhi Wasallam".

Commentary:
Due to the shamefastness of Sayyidina Rasulullah Sallallahu 'Alayhi Wasallam this was not possible, then how could Sayyidina Rasulullah Sallallahu 'Alayhi Wasallam himself have done so? It is natural that in the presence of a modest person, one is compelled to act modestly. In another narration it is clearly denied that never did Sayyidina Rasulullah Sallallahu 'Alayhi Wasallam see my private parts, nor did I see the private parts of Sayyidina Rasulullah Sallallahu 'Alayhi Wasallam. Although 'Aayeshah Radiyallahu 'Anha was the most informal among all the wives, she was also the most beloved. If this was his manner with her, what can be said of the others? Sayyiditina Ummi Salamah Radiyallahu 'Anha says that when Sayyidina Rasulullah Sallallahu 'Alayhi Wasallam slept with his wife, he closed his eyes and bowed down his head, and also stressed to his wife to be calm and dignified. Ibn 'Abbaas Radiyallahu 'Anhu narrates that Sayyidina Rasulullah Sallallahu 'Alayhi Wasallam went behind the rooms to perform ghusl. Nobody saw the private parts of Sayyidina Rasulullah Sallallahu'Alayhi Wasallam. Before the advent of nubuwwah, when the Ka'bah was rebuilt Sayyidina Rasulullah Sallallahu 'Alayhi Wasallam also carried stones and brought them. According to 'Arab custom, no importance was given to concealing the private parts. Sayyidina Rasulullah Sallallahu 'Alayhi Wasallam (happen to) put his lungi under the stone, and immediately became unconscious (due to modesty) and fell down, whereas, at that time the shar'ee injunctions were not even revealed.
